Continue ReadingThe season is almost over and we are heading into the Final-4 this week. I will put out the updated rankings for all classes at the end of the season.
Here is an early look at some of the big stock risers from the HS season.
2020
Zion Johnson C 6’7 Camelback (Pictured)
-Big man carried his team most of the season to a 16-seed. He went from a virtual unknown to a player you have to stop or you will lose the game. He has strong hands and soft touch around the cup. He grabs everything near him and he recently signed with Phoenix College.
Jaden Glass PF 6’6 Ironwood
-He grew about 2 full inches since last year and he is their energy guy and finisher. On a team with stud guards, he is a perfect fit.
Matthew Whisler PG 6’1 Chaparral
-Simply put, this kid has clearly put in work. He barely even played last year and turned out to be invaluable for the Firebirds with his poise and shooting.
2021
Moses Demalek F 6’6 Paradise Valley
-A long and athletic forward gets downhill with the best of them for his position and rebounds well. He handles the ball better than most and is aggressive. He showed that he is a capable 3pt shooter and his upside is high.
Isaiah Freeney PG 6’0 South Mountain
-He keeps getting a little better every year. He is polishing up his game with his handle, shooting consistency and defense and has guided the younger team to the Final-4.
Keiran Carr SG 6’2 Arcadia
-A long shooter grew almost three inches shockingly since the summer and he may not be done. He can rattle off 3’s quickly and plays the passing lanes.
2022
Ringo Aguek SF 6’5 Ironwood
-You won’t see him dominating on varsity yet, but he will on JV and will be a huge factor next year with 5 of their top 9 varsity players graduating. The younger brother of Ajang Aguek may be better at the same stage and his stock is up.
Oakland Fort PG 5’9 Sunnyslope
-A dynamic lead guard is turning heads this season from his scoring, defending and making plays.
Trey Phillips PF 6’6 Brophy Prep
-A bouncy forward missed most of the season with an injury, but like Aguek, he dominated on JV and will be a big factor on varsity next year.
