Brody Thralls 5’11 PG Incline 2022 – Thralls was tremendous in the semis against Meadows finishing with 18 points. More than just a scorer, Thralls led the team in assist this season, averaging over 4 per game. A repeat performance like that will go a long way in putting the sophomore’s name on the lips of many.
Jamir Stephens 6’1 PG Desert Pines 2022 (#11) (featured image) – Stephens is a quick PG with good finishing ability. Desert Pines is primed for a title shot, they’re deep, athletic and talented. Stephens is the clear ex factor. He can be used as a backup at both backcourt positions and is effective at either. A strong driver, Stephens finishers well in transition. This is going to be a big summer for him, a solid performance in the State Finals just might be the springboard he needs.
Isaiah Dahl 6’3 SG Elko 2022 – While much of the attention goes to rising sophomore Mike Klekas, Dahl has put together a terrific season. In addition to using his 6’3 frame to help rebound, he has also chipped in 12 points per game. He can shoot it from 3, however he does most of his damage inside and at the line. He shot over 60% from the filed and 80% from the charity stripe. This is an absolutely loaded 3A bracket, if he can perform at his best, and help Elko advance, this young sophomore will put his name on the radar.
Gavin Douglas 6’5 SF Boulder City 2022 (#31) – It’s been an up and down year for the sophomore, however returning back to his home town just might be the spark he needs. Size is always at a premium at the high school level, as well as skills. Douglas possesses both. He’s going to have to be ready when he’s called upon, but if he is, watch out as he just may be the x factor for the Eagles.
Elijah Johnson 5’9 PG Durango 2022 (#19) – I’m a sicko because I can’t wait to watch the Johnson v Stephens matchup. It will be strength vs strength. Johnson has quietly solidified himself as one of the top on ball defenders in the state. His willingness to pick guys up full court, and turn ballhandlers has impacted the Trailblazers in a positive way. He’s has great lateral quickness and extremely fast hands. He is going to be called upon to defend several of DP’s guards, if he continues to display his elite defensive ability and neutralizes the effectiveness of the Jags ballhandlers, then he’ll definitely raise some eyebrows.
