Millard North topped North Star 69-67 in a game full of highlight plays. Millard North’s Hunter Sallis and Lincoln North Star’s Donovan Williams were a lot of the reason why many coaches made the trip to Omaha, but they were not the only ones who stood out on Tuesday. Here is a break down of top performers from the Tuesday night match-up.
2021 Saint Thomas: The 6’6 forward did a little bit of everything for the Mustangs on Tuesday. He ended with 18 points, 11 rebounds, and 4 assists. Saint plays a huge role for this talented Millard North team. He is a capable three-point shooter who also can use his size to take advantage of mismatches in the paint. He is averaging 15 points a game this season in an offense with a lot of mouths to feed. He does a great job of crashing the boards and starting the break for the Mustangs.
2020 Donovan Williams: Donovan had a team-high of 31 points for Lincoln North Star. Donovan didn’t have his best night shooting from deep but he adjusted accordingly and used his shot fake to get downhill at will. He is such a strong kid and had several tough finishes against the best front court in the state. There were several coaches in the crowd to watch Donovan. He recently de-committed from Nebraska and his recruitment has heated up quickly. The senior leader kept his team within striking distance all night long but it wasn’t enough to leave Omaha with the win.
2022 Jasen Green: There is so much to like about this lengthy prospect. The 6’7 sophomore is so versatile. He can post-up or face-up his defender. He managed to knock down a catch and shoot three-pointer as well. The biggest play he made was a drive from the right-wing and finished at the front of the rim to give the Mustangs a four-point lead and help stop a North Star run. He’s a bigger kid but can certainly put it on the deck comfortably. It’s no surprise he’s receiving Division I offers early on in high school career.
2021 Hunter Sallis: The five-star guard was as good as advertised Tuesday night. Sallis has a special ability shooting mid-range pull up jumpers. He has a great handle and can always create just enough space to elevate and knock down the contested jumper consistently. He scored the ball at all three levels. Sallis had the sell-out crowd in awe on all three of his dunks. He took the defender off the dribble and threw it down on top of North Stars help defender, and the other two he soared in for tip slams. He was phenomenal all night.
2020 Luke Juracek: The Senior captain Juracek was quiet in the first half but stepped up big when his team needed it most. In the second half, it seemed like Millard North was going to start pulling away and had built a double-digit lead for the first time. Juracek made five three-pointers in the second half to give his team a chance to win the game. He showed off his range and went unconscious in the fourth quarter it wasn’t enough to knock off the Mustangs but it was incredibly fun to watch.
