The Titans looked to spoil South Salem’s senior night, as they said farewell to all their seniors in their final conference home game. The night started off as a high octane battle, as each possession was fast paced and was capped off with some early game antics. West Salem’s athleticism kept them in the battle as they were up on the Saxons 32-27 in the first half, keeping South Salem on their toes. The Titans got some big three’s in the first half from Jackson Lowery, as they were absolutely making it rain from downtown early on. They second half was a different story, as the Saxons began their takeover with a defensive shift. With their patented blue collared defensive, alongside Trey Galbraith and Kieran Pruett‘s shooting, they carved their way back into the game, taking a lead of 45-36 by the third quarter. The cap of the night for the Saxons was a Nick Zuro dunk, which sealed the victory and provided an emotional spark for their festivities. The Saxons ultimately came up victorious with a 66-49 effort over the Titans. Here are the top performances from the night.
Trey Galbraith (South Salem HS) – was one of the key cogs in the comeback for the Saxons, as he was relied on for his shooting and distribution. Seemed as if he couldn’t miss from downtown and found ways to get his teammates back into the game. Contributed 16 points and 6 assists for South Salem.
Emorej Lynk (South Salem HS) – the big man had a slow start to the night, but kept playing tough and really honed it down in the second half. On defense, he had his hand in the passing lanes all night and also drew several charges which really stifled West Salem’s hopes of coming back. Chipped in 7 points, 10 rebounds, and 3 steals for the Saxons.
Cole Hardy (South Salem HS) – the big spark for the Saxons was the forward, who made some huge shots down the stretch for South Salem. He could be counted on for a bucket, especially when they needed it. Had a game high 20 points and was the ultimate difference maker between the two teams.
Jackson Lowery (West Salem HS) – the multitalented hoops/gridiron star showed off his versatility when he combined his inside capabilities with his outside shooting range. The smooth wing also played gritty defense and provided leadership when West Salem was down, illustrating a tough, competitive spirit. Had 19 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 steals for the Titans.
Holden Whipple (West Salem HS) – the big man displayed his unique offensive skill set, with the ability to take it strong to the hoop as well as make a three from time to time. Held it down for the Titans in the middle with 8 points and 7 rebounds.
Alex Dyson (West Salem HS) – was a part of West Salem’s efforts to come back, as he chipped in key baskets to keep them within reach of the Saxons. Also rebounded well and moved the ball around for the Titans. Had 8 points and 6 rebounds in a valiant effort for West Salem.
