The Favorites
Pinecrest HS: They have had a few tough spots this season but overall their season has been very successful. A well coached, disciplined team that has one of the better Underclassmen prospects in the area in Junior Guard Bradlee Haskell. Haskell is a legit D1 prospect that recently dropped 51 Points as well as eclipsing the 1,000 Point career mark.
Lumberton HS: With a new Head Coach coming in this year, Pirate fans didn’t necessarily know what to expect but the team hit the ground running and have played well overall. One of the main reasons for their success is Senior Guard Jordan McNeill who has been absolutely outstanding throughout the year averaging close to 25, 7 & 7 per contest.
Upset Alert Team
Richmond County: They’ve had a few tough losses this year but they have all the tools to be a championship team. Solid Guard play and size that can rebound in the paint as well as high level defenders are all things they bring to the table. Junior Forward Nygie Stroman has proven himself as a college prospect and could be a player that the team leans on for offensive production.
Scotland County: They come into tournament play with a record of 8-6 but have competed with some of the best teams in the area. One of the players on this team that we feel can make winning plays to lead this team is Senior Guard Garrett Mcrae. Mcrae is an uptempo Guard that can change turnovers into buckets in a heartbeat.
Cinderella Team
Purnell Swett: They haven’t had the season they wanted but in quite a few games that they come up short in, they competed and loss by a small margin. Senior Xavier Jones is a player that has been playing well and could go on a hot streak at any given moment during tourney time.
