Continue ReadingThe Central Coast Section Playoffs are underway with several teams hoping to win and move on to the next round. These 2021 prospects have been major contributors to their teams success, and will have to continue to play at a high level if they want to advance to the next round. Here’s my list of unranked 2021 players playing key roles for their team in the CCS playoffs.
Ryan Kiachian 6’9 PF/C Bellarmine Prep.
Kiachian has been holding down the middle for the Bells all season long. He’s been one of the more consistent bigs in terms of consistency for prospects in the class of 2021 in NorCal this season. He’s averaging close to a double double. He continues to provide steady play on both ends of the court for this team. His length and size gives the Bells a legitimate go to post player.
JT Byrne 6’7 Forward Carmel
This football/basketball player averages 23 pts, and 8 rebs a game. He’ll try to lead Carmel to the Division IV CCS Championship. Byrne is a big body post player who works hard around the basket for points and rebounds. His intensity rubs off on his teammates.
Harry Nauci 6’7 Center, Santa Clara HS.
This prospect is a big reason why Santa Clara won their league (17-5, 10-2) and earned a first round bye in Division II . He’s just simply bigger and stronger than other players he’s gone up against. In the playoffs he’ll be challenged with players who match his size. We’ll see how he holds up. He’ll have to prove he can play at a higher level.
Alijah Washington 6’3 Combo guard Piedmont Hills (San Jose)
Washington has led the Pirates to a (19-5, 12-2) first round bye in CCS Div I. Washington has blossomed into more than just a spot up shooter. He’s capable of carrying this team through tough stretches of a game. He’s the one they look to at the end of the game, with the ball in his hands. He’ll creates for others and can get his own.
Skyler Thomas 6’3 Forward Menlo Atherton
The athletic Thomas football/basketball player will have his hand full trying to handle the post players from Mtty (WCAL). CCS Open Division. Make no mistake about it, Thomas is a tough competitor who might be undersized, but he’s been going up against bigger players for a while now, he’s going to make them work for it. He’s going to be a key to Menlo Athertons continued success. His quickness around the basket could help him.
Brock Susko 6’3 Combo Guard Los Altos
Susko has been a consistent performer for this team. As a 2021 he’s one of the leaders on this team that has surprised opponents in league this season and vaulting them into one of the favorites in Division I. The combo guard can score by knocking down 3’s and getting to the basket on the drive, he’s averaging in double figures. He sets up teammates with his heady passing, and has converted big shots when the game is on the line.
