Jasper Reinalda, the rapidly-developing 7-foot-3, 265-pound post from Corvallis does not yet have a college home but he’s not sweating it too much. He’s been enjoying his senior season with his Spartans teammates and with a couple of weeks left in the regular season, is working hardest towards a strong finish.
“It’s been going really well and I’m having a lot of fun,” Reinalda said. “It’s been a good group of guys to play with. We’re not winning as many games as I would hope to win but we’re definitely learning a lot and playing well.”
Reinalda has been a key piece to the Spartans success. He’s been an anchor in the post and has been a big presence on both ends of the floor. It’s clear that his game has continued to improve in a huge way since last season and he’s trying to keep the momentum going forward.
“I’m definitely getting quicker and stronger,” Reinalda said. “I’m running the floor, I’ve been more aggressive and my defensive footwork has been better.”
Reinalda is still looking forward to getting the opportunity to play in college and he notes that he remains in contact with what he terms a couple of Pac-12 schools as well as some other lower D-I programs. “I’m still evaluating my options,” Reinalda said. “We’ll see how this season goes and I’ll make my decision sometime this spring.”
Instead of worrying about his recruitment too much, Renalda is instead locked in on the rest of the season for Corvallis, one in which he’s hoping will end up with them playing back at home. “I think that we still have a shot at getting to the state tournament,” Reinald said. “We just need to win some games. We’ve learned a lot from the losses that we’ve had so far, so hopefully we’ll improve as a team and hopefully get to Gill (Coliseum) at the end of the year.”
Reinalda currenty ranks as the #39 ranked player in the PrepHoops Oregon Class of 2020 rankings.
