If the Andy Cerroni coached team can play this good in March, nobody will beat them.
Prep Hoops Wisconsin lists five prospect standouts from Hamilton’s lopsided victory:
Patrick Baldwin Jr. — Sussex Hamilton — SF
For Sussex Hamilton, It all starts with Baldwin. The 6-foot-9 small forward didn’t have his best game on Thursday, but he was still very good. Racine Case had no answers for the length and scoring ability of the five-star. In an effort to slow down Baldwin, Case directed a lot of attention his way. This didn’t work. Baldwin simply found his teammates for open shots.
I was also impressed with Baldwin’s play on defense. He used his superior length to protect the rim and block shots.
The top prospect in Wisconsin’s 2021 class finished with 21 points in the win.
JaKobe Thompson — Racine Case — PG
Thompson was a positive for Case in what otherwise was a game filled with negatives. The 6-foot-1 point guard displayed his scoring prowess, dropping 30 points for the Eagles. Thompson continues to prove that he is one of the state’s best isolation scorers. The PG has a deep bag of tricks that he uses to make defenders look silly. He can blow by his man, or use his quick dribbling skills to gain separation for a jumper.
When Thompson gets his defender on an island, it usually results in a bucket.
Carson Smith — Sussex Hamilton — SG
It was Smith‘s night to shine. On senior night, the shooting guard put up 30 points. It seemed as if every time the ball rolled off Smith’s right hand it went in. Because Sussex Hamilton has so many offensive weapons, Case opted to neglect Smith. He made them pay dearly for that mistake.
The Northern Michigan basketball commit will hope to continue playing great basketball as Hamilton prepares for a deep playoff run.
Jonathan Rankins — Racine Case — SG
Rankins, who is a high jump state champion, did many great things for the Eagles. He scored 12 points and used his leaping ability to rebound and finish around the rim really well. Rankins will be a valuable role player for his team in the playoffs.
Tanner Resch — Sussex Hamilton — PG
A lot of Sussex Hamilton’s success on offense is thanks to Baldwin’s dominance, sure. But, Resch is an underrated piece that doesn’t get enough props. The 2021 point guard does a really nice job of passing and scoring. The Chargers offense runs so much smoother when Resch is in the game.
He scored 19 points for SH in the victory.
