Meade is scoring 22.7 points a game with a near double figure rebound average (9.6) leading the Eagles as a senior. Meade is one of the few returning players this year with experience so things have been rocky but Lourdes competes hard.
“The year has been going well so far,” Meade said. “We lost a lot of guys from last year and we have had a lot of guys step up and play really well this season. Everyone had to adapt to a new coach this year and I think everyone has handled it very well.
“I think offensively we have been solid through out the year and our shooting has been strong. We have struggled at times defensively, but I think the biggest thing for us is just putting together an entire game. Where we defend and play with high intensity the whole game.”
Meade is a well schooled talent that has learned from quality coaches at Wear Out the Net and Lourdes. He feels that if his team plays together they can beat anybody.
“I’m just focused on being the best teammate and player that I can be for our team,” Meade said. “Our section is very tough this year and I think that any team can beat anyone on any given night.
“For us as a team we just need to take it one game at a time and keep picking up wins. Not counting ourselves out against anyone and just going out and competing every night. I think that we have the talent and team to go out and beat anyone.”
Former Coach David Norris II taught Meade a lot about the game and Colin appreciates all of the coach’s efforts.
“I work a lot with our old coach, David Norris II. He has taught me how to play with good pace and how to create for myself off the dribble. He’s molded me into a much more versatile player and has helped me a lot through out my high school career.”
As far as the professionals go….
“I watch a lot of LeBron, how he attacks the rim and finds open teammates,” Meade said. “I also watch a lot of Damian Lillard, how he creates space for himself off the dribble and also the rhythm and pace he plays with.”
Meade has already committed to St. John’s and today he told Prep Hoops why he is looking forward to being a Johnnie.
“Basketball wise they have been very successful and I really like the coaching staff they have there,” Meade explained. “I felt that it was a really good fit for me.
“Schooling wise they have the global business degree I was looking for and have a very large network for jobs and opportunities outside of the college.”
