Class 6A
2021 6-3 W Jaeden Marshall – Richmond Hill
Coming off a 16-12 season, Jaeden Marshall has taken the reins of the offense and has led the Wildcats to a 23-4 mark including a Region 2 Championship. Down on the coast, Marshall and the Cats now start their March to Macon as they host Morrow in Round 1. The 205-pound physical guard has averaged 12.4 points and 5 rebounds to lead a balanced attack. Marshall excels at getting to the line and with a strong playoff push, could see some momentum heading into his senior season.
2021 6-3 W Kevin Taylor – Allatoona
A true Swiss-Army Knife, Kevin Taylor is a jack of all trades. The Bucs upset Sequoyah in the Region 6 semifinals and play tonight with a chance to shock South Cobb next. Taylor can play all over the floor with his versatile array of skills. He averages 12.5 points, 8 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.7 steals. He has an exceptional motor and plays bigger than his size. Taylor’s efficiency stands out, shooting 47 percent from the field while hitting 30-75 (40%) from three. Allatoona’s spread out offense makes them hard to game plan for.
2021 6-1 PG Will Kolker – Pope
Up against a long and athletic Douglas County team in the first round, the wiz-kid passer will need to drop dimes to slice up the Tigers if Pope wants to move onto the Sweet 16. Will Kolker is one of Georgia’s slickest passers and can create offense with the way he threads the needle. A true point guard, he makes everyone around him better. If he can pull some magic tricks in the postseason, expect D-II’s to start circling his name as he moves into this final season.
2020 6-2 SG Christian Chambers – Evans
In need of a gritty scoring guard? Christian Chambers is your man. D-II and JUCOs are involved with the lefty. Chambers scores at all three levels. He can get hot from deep but is a crafty slasher that can finish in traffic. Chambers is a creative scorer but what stands out is his toughness on the glass. Chambers is a double-double threat and is the heart and soul of the Knights. If Evans takes a deep playoff run, look no further than to Chambers’ inevitable production. He will be a great addition to a college program.
2021 5-10 CG Tyrese Jones – Brunswick
When Joyful Hawkins left town, Brunswick was left for dead as a team expected to fall back to the pack but with Coach Chris Turner and pieces stepping up, instead the Pirates earned the top-seed heading into the Region 2 tournament and have amassed an 18-8 record. 6-foot-7 senior Jaden Dunham has emerged as Brunswick’s go-to guy on the block averaging a double-double and protecting the rim at a high level, but in the post season guard play usually shines through. That’s where Tyrese Jones will have to come up big when teams collapse on Dunham. Jones is a streaky scorer that can light it up from deep. If teams get too concerned with slowing down Dunham and forget to game plan for Jones, he can burn them.
2020 6-7 PF Bryce Robinson – Alexander
Bryce Robinson is one of Georgia’s most reliable big men. Recently receiving an offer from D-III Maryville College, Robinson is a game-altering post presence. He averages 9.9 points, 9.4 rebounds and 3.7 blocks. He’s got a baby hook in his arsenal and the touch to hit the mid-range. He has good timing when blocking shots. Alexander locks up with Chattahoochee in the opening round of state. He will need to dominate his matchup inside and score down low when opportunities present themselves in what projects to be a fast pace game.
2020 6-2 SG Rickey Brown – Valdosta
North of Macon, no one really knows exactly how good Region 1 No. 1-seed Valdosta is. At 23-3, they have beaten everyone they were supposed to and are in good hands under the guidance of two-time state championship winning Head Coach Darrell Lockhart. 6-foot-2 senior Rickey Brown has lit it up in South Georgia, averaging 19.7 points, 4.7 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 2.8 steals. He hit up Lee County for 25 points in their 72-45 Region 1 Championship. Brown is a dangerous three-point shooter that has hit 71-168 (42%). They have an interesting first-round matchup with Grovetown, who was 21-3 before slipping to the four-seed in Region 3.
