Class 2A
2021 6-3 W Jalyin Sellers – Spencer
The Green Wave have broken the clock four times this year averaging 81.4 points per game with a season-high of 117. Jaylin Sellers leads the GHSA’s highest scoring offense. Sellers picked up an offer from Troy in the preseason and has led Spencer to a 21-3 mark. The Green Wave has struggled to make waves in the postseason but the two-time Region 5 Player of the Year has Spencer primed for their deepest run yet on a roster with only two seniors.
2023 5-7 PG Damien Smith – Chattooga
The three-point ball is a game changer in the postseason and an equalizer for smaller teams. Damien “Head” Smith can take over games with his quick trigger and if he gets hot from three, could help advance the Indians deep into the postseason. Smith has come on strong in the second half of the season and is Chattooga’s ace in their back pocket.
2021 6-6 F Ja’Michael Stillwell – Douglass
A workhorse on the boards, Ja’Michael Stillwell attacks rebounds and defends multiple positions. His versatility on defense is a major boon as he can switch screens and still stay in front of guards with his length. Stillwell’s dominance in the paint will be important to the Astros’ success in the postseason. Schools should keep an eye on his progress as a big summer may loom.
2020 6-8 C Jabari Burge – Model
Likely headed to play football in college, Jabari Burge is a monster inside with his size and strength. He rips down rims with powerful dunks and alters shots at the rim. Burge can anchor the paint and make it tough for teams to score on Model in the half court. He is one of Georgia’s better big men.
2020 6-3 SG Ja’Quavian Florence – South Atlanta
An early season injury set back Ja’Quavian Florence‘s momentum. When healthy, Florence is a D-I shooting guard with great athleticism and a lethal three-point shot. Florence started gaining interest from High Major schools over the summer and could be a steal at any level. South Atlanta has compiled their worst record since 2005-06 at 15-10, but a hot streak from Florence could propel them back into the Elite Eight.
2020 6-4 W Ra’Sean Frederick – Therrell
Temple offered the big wing in the offseason. Frederick has averaged 17 points and 6 rebounds in the absence of Robbie Armbrester. The southpaw is physical and gets downhill and excels as a rebounder. He has improved his three-point shooting, giving Therrell an important dimension in the state playoffs.
2020 6-1 PG Jarden Maze – Washington County
The playmaking guard has done it all for Washington County. He averages 18.3 points, 4.6 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 1.7 steals. Maze is slinky and able to snake his way into the lane. He does a nice job of finding open shooters. He gives good effort on the glass and is a capable on-ball defender. Maze plans on making his collegiate decision after the season.
