Class 1A
2020 6-2 G Kamron Jordan – Treutlen
Averaging 18 points and 14 rebounds, Kam Jordan is an aggressive guard with a nose for the ball. He has the ability to play all over the floor with his length and motor. Jordan posted 14 points and 11 rebounds in last year’s heartbreaking 69-67 buzzer-beating state championship loss to Calhoun County and has unfinished business this postseason.
Jordan Brown2022 6-0 CG Jordan Brown – St. Francis
Jordan Brown entered high school with an advanced scoring ability but he has continued to improve his game as a point guard. He’s averaging 9.3 points, 2.4 rebounds and 2.8 assists. Brown’s ability to both create for others and score on his own has been a big piece in St. Francis’ success. We will really see Brown’s progression next season once Dwon Odom has graduated.
2020 6-8 C Amaree McGriff – Lanier County
Back in Georgia after transferring out last season, Amaree McGriff has gotten back to owning the paint in Class A-Public. He averages 13.6 points, 11 rebounds and 5.6 blocks. McGriff is a solid athlete that can run rim to rim. In the past, body language has been an area for improvement. McGriff is solid project for a school that needs an athletic rim protector.
2021 6-0 G Jordan Jones – First Presbyterian Day
Jordan Jones scores in bunches. He pours in 25.6 points per game and has FPD at 19-6. Jones does a nice job of mixing up his ways of scoring. He’s dangerous from three (37%) but also is able to draw contact on drives and converts 85 percent of his free throws. He lit up Wilkinson County for 46 points in a game earlier this season. Jones is one of Middle Georgia’s best pure scorers.
2023 6-6 W Frankquon Sherman – Lincoln County
We thought Ahmad Rand was a once in a lifetime player at Lincoln County. Rand’s athleticism incarnate is freshman phenom Frankquon Sherman. The freak athlete is a viral video waiting to happen with his explosiveness. He already went between the legs in transition and has even more creative dunks in store. Lincoln County is a bit of a surprise to grab the No. 8 seed and earn a first-round Bye. They have been inconsistent at times, especially on the road so the fact that they have a home game is huge. Sherman averages 19.9 points per game and will likely do battle with Lanier County in Round 2. Matching up with Amaree McGriff and EJ Brown will be a tremendous test for the young star.
2020 6-4 G Christian Lamar – Wilkinson County
The Class A-Public Player of the Year award may return to the Lamar household as Christian has taken the reins as star player at the Palace after the graduation of Jalen. The playmaking guard averages 24 points, 12 rebounds and 9 assists. A deep playoff run will help Lamar’s late rising stock. He’s just picked up an offer from Columbia State.
2020 6-6 W AJ Hopkins – Whitfield Academy
With over 1,000 points and 500 rebounds in his career, AJ Hopkins has been a smooth producer. He has the versatility to score both inside and out. He rebounds well and can handle the ball enough to give minutes at both forward positions. Holding a 3.8 GPA and 29 on the ACT, Hopkins should be an attractive late recruit this summer.
