Garang Deng – 2020 – F – Oshkosh North
A sleeper we hadn’t heard of before Friday, Deng has got some stuff to him. The 6-foot-4 combo forward is a plus-length athlete who can handle the ball and create his own shot. Still very raw physically, Deng still has a smooth mid-range game and uses his length well to shoot over the top of defenders with ease. Deng had 13 points, most of which came in the second half during a nice run for North. A lot of other parts of Deng’s game need to be developed, but the upside is certainly there and he could be a steal for a small college program.
Josh Dilling – 2020 – G – Oshkosh North
Putting together a strong second half, Dilling helped the Spartans get within three points late and give them a chance to steal a big road win. The senior guard tallied a team-high 17 points in the loss. Dilling is an intriguing combo guard who can break people down or snipe triples from beyond the arc. He plays mostly point for North, but has the skillset to do some things off the ball as well. The lefty is a very confident offensive threat with some flare when the ball is in his hands. He’s always ready to shoot, but also displayed some good patience at times during a game that was played mostly in the halfcourt with long possessions. Dilling has a quick first step and the body control to drive through tight areas. He has a Division 2 offer on the table while a couple others are also evaluating at this time.
Chevalier Emery – 2022 – G – Neenah
He only scored two points, but I like the way this kid plays. A high energy defender that likes to pick people up 94 feet and can rattle them without fouling, Emery has the ability to take people out of their rhythm defensively. The 5-foot-11 guard is also a pretty good athlete and showed that with a transition, chase down block against the backboard. Offensively, Emery is a quick guard who can shoot it from deep. He can put pressure on a defense with his ability shoot well beyond the arc, but also probe and get into dangerous areas off the dribble.
Jalen Keago – 2021 – SF – Oshkosh North
Keago had a nice first half before cooling off after halftime. However, the fast-rising wing showed some really good stuff. A breakout performer this season, Keago scored 12 points in the opening period. The 6-foot-4 junior was very effective in the open floor and isolation settings, going off the dribble, getting to his spots, and hitting mid-range jumpers. Keago has good lower body strength and rebounds well on the defensive end. He has the length and athleticism to be a stud defender if he puts in the work. I like the direction this kid is headed after being virtually unknown last year. He’s a guy Division 2 programs will want to start tracking this spring.
Max Klesmit – 2020 – G – Neenah
It’s very likely that Klesmit will finish in the top five of the senior class rankings. The Wofford commit dropped 29 points, many of which felt effortless for him. Klesmit has always been a great shooter, but over the last year he’s added more strength, athleticism, and a willingness to attack the rim hard. A sniper who’s also crafty and can create for others, Klesmit has a chance to be a star in Wofford’s system. Given their track record, it wouldn’t be surprising if Klesmit and the Terriers are busting our NCAA Tournament brackets in a few years.
