Here are the top performances from last week:
Carson Henningsgard, Hillsboro/Central Valley
Hillsboro/Central Valley has rebounded from a bit of a midseason swoon in a big way and the guy at the forefront of the effort has been Henningsgard. It’s getting down to the time of the year where the big-knockers have to step up and he did that and then some. The senior all-state guard scored 24 points in win over May-Port-C-G before going off for 32 points in key regional win over Thompson and 30 in win over North Border. Hillsboro/Central will go into the region tournament with the No. 2 seed, but it’s hard to ever count them out with Henningsgard leading the way.
Will Olson, Williston
Olson’s been a bright spot for the Coyotes all year and he played a huge part in the team earning what was undoubtedly the best win of their season over Jamestown last week. The senior guard scored 23 points, hauled in five boards and handed out four assists in a loss to Dickinson to start the week, then put forth one of the best performances of his season with 22 points, seven rebounds and six assists in the win over the Bluejays.
Zion Dettman, West Fargo Sheyenne
The Mustangs are ranked No. 2 in Class A and Dettman’s been a key cog in their success. The senior point guard has picked up his game in recent weeks and was terrific last week in helping Sheyenne secure a pair of big wins to stay in the hunt for the EDC title. Dettman scored 18 points and dished out seven assists in a win over a Fargo North team that has been playing well in recent weeks. Dettman led the Mustangs in scoring with 19 points in a 62-43 win over Devils Lake to end the week.
Isaiah Bundy-Smith, Rugby
Bundy-Smith’s had a breakout season for the Panthers, averaging better than eight points and nearly seven rebounds playing a key role for a top-five team. He showed glimpses of what he’s truly capable of last week, notching a pair of double-doubles in winning efforts. Bundy-Smith scored 10 points, grabbed 10 rebounds, dished out three assists, blocked three shots and had two steals. He was even better in the win over Dunseith, recording a triple double with 11 points, 13 rebounds, 10 assists and a steal and block.
