This is also a good opportunity for them to showcase their skills a few more times with college coaches, scouts, and media in attendance. Here’s is list of unsigned seniors who have had an impact and can help their teams make a solid run into the playoffs.
Dishon Jackson 6’10 hopes to lead St. Pat St. Vin to a NCS Div 3 title as the top unsigned big man in NorCal Jackson has been a steady performer all season long averaging a double double in points and rebounding. He’s a known presence in the paint with the ability to block and change shots.
Te’ Jon Sawyer 6’8 forward Salesian College Prep. This is Sawyer’s best season as a high school basketball player. He has been consistent in leading this team in scoring and rebounding. He’s made it tough for any team trying to defend him one on one. He’s big, strong, and has a soft touch around the basket. He’s one of the few bigs I’ve seen that has been successful at drawing charges. His mobility is improved. He’ll lead Salesian in NorCals top Open Division.
Anthony Roy 6’4 g/f Dublin. Roy has had a breakout season leading Dublin to a #1 seed in the Open, NorCals top division. He has been the leading scorer and the go to guy when this team needs a bucket. He’s long, athletic and can defend on the perimeter. His patience, passing and decision making has stood out this season.
Josh Williams 6’1 guard, Sheldon. The consistency that Williams has been showing this season will be a big factor in trying to get the favored Huskies back to the state finals for the 3rd consecutive year. He’s averaging 14 pts a game, and has been the quiet leader on this team. He’s improved his game across the board. He’s an athlete that can play either guard position, his ability to run the offense is much improved along with his patience, and decision making. His midrange jumper is effective. He can defend.
Gavin Wilburn 6’3 guard Weston Ranch. I think The Ranch has played one of the toughest schedules of any team playing in the playoffs. They’ve had their ups and downs this season and Wilburn has been a solid performer through it all. He has a college body, and has the experience of a player that can deliver in crunch time. Weston Ranch has already knocked off two teams seeded higher in the playoffs and will take on higher seeds throughout the playoffs.
Michael Pearson 5’9 guard Modesto Christian will try to lead a young group of talented players on this Crusader team. Pearson has been the calm steady performer the last 2 years on this team carrying them down the stretch and making big shots with game on the line. He’ll have to do that again if they’re going to be the giant slayer and knock off Sheldon in the tough Open Division of the San Joaquin Section.
Shane Bell 6’4 guard Salesian. Bell just gets it done for the 2nd ranked team in the NCS Open Division. He’ll have to perform in a big way if Salesian is going to get to the finals. His attacking and slashing style causes major problems for teams trying to defend him, he’s been most effective when he’s scoring in this fashion. His quickness, and ability to defend multiple positions will be on display in the playoffs.
Quinn Denker 6’3 guard Bellarmine. He has been The Bells most productive player over the past few seasons, leading this team in the tough WCAL where they’ll have to beat at least 2 WCAL opponents to win the CCS Open title, it not going to be easy. He’s more of a scoring guard but can run the offense effectively. He can get his own shot off the dribble drive, or by knocking down mid-range jumpers, and 3′. An underrated player who’s been getting it done all season.
Mahmoud Fofana 6’5 wing Santa Teresa. Fofana might be the best unknown player in San Jose. He’s a stat stuffer averaging 22 pts,14 rebs, and 6 blocks per game. ST will be playing in the CCS Division I bracket where Fofana will be challenged hit his average. He’s athletic with long arms and a wiry body. He’s best at rebounding and taking it coast to coast. His quickness off the dribble allows him to go by players from 15 ft and in. He’s a quick leaper, that helps him get a lot of 2nd chance points.
