Camden Catholic is the two-time defending champion, while Paul VI is the top seed. St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas are capable of making a deep run, while St. Joseph (Metuchen) is a solid team as well. Non-Public A South is full of talented players who can carry their teams to a deep run. Here are the top impact play-makers in Non-Public A South.
Quadry Adams, 6’3 PG St. Thomas Aquinas 2020
The Trojans may be the seventh seed, but they have the talent to make a deep run. Sophomore Jaquan Harris has been electric all season, but Adams is the one who runs the show for St. Thomas Aquinas. The Wake Forest commit is a big-time athlete who knows how to finish around the rim. Adams has a quick first step and knows how to get his teammates involved. St. Thomas Aquinas lost in the quarterfinals last season and the Trojans are looking for a better result in 2019-20.
Zach Hicks, 6’8 SF Camden Catholic 2021
The Irish are looking to defend their Non-Public A South title and they need Hicks to be at his best. The 6’8 junior forward is capable of dropping 20 points on any given night as he uses his length and talent to get his shot off. Hicks has a smooth mid-range game and can knock down three-pointers. His ability to take over games late could be enough to carry Camden Catholic to another Non-Public A South title.
Wisler Sanon, 6’2 CG Paul VI 2021
Paul VI is the top team in Non-Public A South behind the play of Sanon. The 6’2 junior guard brings on both ends of the floor as he loves to attack the basket and is a force on the defensive end. Sanon uses his strong frame to finish through contact and has a good chemistry with classmates Jaylen Boyd-Savage and Nicolo Nobili. The Eagles lost to Camden Catholic in the Non-Public A South final and they are looking to get over the hump in 2019-20.
Matthew Delaney, 6’6 SF St. Augustine 2021
The Hermits are 21-4 on the season and Delaney is a big reason why. The junior forward has a soft touch inside and knows how to finish through contact. Delaney can step out and shoot behind the three-point line, but is also a solid post passer. He is a tough rebounder down low and is a good post defender. St. Augustine has not made the Non-Public A South final since 2017, but that could change this season with Delaney’s ability to dominate down low.
Amari Campbell, 5’9 PG St. Joseph (Metuchen) 2022
Villanova football commit K-Shawn Shulters may lead the Falcons in scoring, but Campbell is the more dynamic player. The sophomore point guard is a blur in the open floor and loves to push the ball up in transition. His ability to change speeds in the halfcourt makes him a very dangerous slasher. Campbell has a nice stroke on his jump shot and is a tough on-ball defender. Shulters and Tyree Ford were both part of the last St. Joseph (Metuchen) team to make the Non-Public A South final, but Campbell is trying to change that in 2020.
