Miguel Parra 5’8 PG West Wendover 2021 – This dude flat out balled. Controlled the game from the PG position, Parra made several tough finishes on drives to the basket. His passing was brilliant as he led West Wendover to an emotional championship game victory. He finished with a game high 22 to Lead the Wolves to the title.
Torak TT Valosek Torak TT Valosek 6'4" | CG Incline | 2022 State NV 6’3 SG Incline 2022 (#17PHN 2022) – The first thing that stands out to you about Valosek is his frame. He is a muscular guard that looks like a senior already. His game is predicated on drives to the basket and pull up jumpers. I had a chance to catch up with him after the game and he mentioned that he wanted to work on his athleticism and outside shooting. I think his assessment is right on, if he develops those two skills the sky’s the limit for the rising c/o 2022 guard.
Elijah Jackson Elijah Jackson 6'0" | PG Churchill County | 2020 State NV 5’10 PG Churchill County 2020 (#28PHN 2020) (featured image) – Don’t know if it’s Fallon or Churchill County. What I do know is Jackson go. Uber quick PG with great athleticism. Jackson is a “must have your camera ready at all times” type of performer. Loved his ballhandling, his use of P&R and of course his bounce he finished with 18 to help the Greenwave advance to the finals and a shot at back to back title.
Thomas Steele Thomas Steele 6'4" | PF Churchill County | 2020 State NV 6’4 PG Churchill County 2020 (#45PHN 2020) – What Jackson couldn’t finish, Steele cleaned up. He simply overpowered Boulder in the Championship game. His rebounding was elite, and his ability to complete plays around the rim proved to be to much for the Eagles. High energy player who led his team with 21 on the day.
Michael Klekas Michael Klekas 6'3" | SF Elko | 2022 State NV 6’3 SF Elko 2022 (#10PHN 2022) – Klekas is a versatile point forward that does a variety of things for his team. He handled, shot it from 3 and scored down low. What I was most impressed with was his strength. Nati Asfaw of Del Sol is a load, but he couldn’t move the 6’3 sophomore at all on the box. Klekas has a quirky game, that reminds you of an undersized Adam Morrison. He finishes well with both hands around the rim and has a soft touch on his jump hooks. He helped Elko advance to the Finals.
Dawson Dumas 6’1 SG Elko 2022 – Sniper Alert! If Dumas had a signature celebration after every 3 point make, we may have been in the gym all day. He was unconscious all game burying 5 trey’s including several deep ones. Elko has a young nucleus that includes the aforementioned Klekas and sophomore Isaiah Dahl. Together they will look to secure a state title as they face off against defending champs Churchill in the Finals.
