In a game where a combined 42 turnovers were committed, Clarksburg took control early and held on to win by a final score of 72-60. Here is a breakdown of 7 intriguing prospects from this hard-fought contest.
JOMO GOINGS | CHURCHILL ’20
Everything good that happened offensively ran through Goings. The 6-foot-4 combo guard got to his spots and was able to consistently get to the basket and either finish, draw contact, or kick it to a teammate. Goings used his length to barricade passing lanes defensively, picking up 4 steals as a result of his effort.
CJ LEE | CLARKSBURG ’22
Lee missed some makeable shots around the basket, but it was encouraging to see him continue to attack the rim instead of settling for jumpers. Despite his relative lack of production on offense, he did make both of his free throws and collect 4 rebounds. Lee played at a good pace and stayed engaged in the game on both ends of the floor.
RYAN PRATHER | CLARKSBURG ’21
Prather played a great all-around game, leading his team to a win on both ends of the floor. He led all players with 12 boards and was very efficient offensively. Prather shot 10/19 from the field, including 2/4 from deep, and 6 of 7 from the line.
KADEN RICHARDSON | CHURCHILL ’22
Richardson is a good athlete who showed nice defensive potential. He did a nice job attacking the rim offensively and did not shy away from contact in the paint.
ETHAN RINDNER | CHURCHILL ’20
Rindner is a sturdily built forward who plays with a high motor. He can stretch the floor a little bit but is best at rebounding, setting screens and making smart hustle plays.
KENDALL SMITH | CLARKSBURG ’20
Smith is a lanky lefty who can do a bit of everything, including shoot the three and defend. He recorded a game-high 5 steals and made all his free throw attempts.
NUNU TAYLOR | CLARKSBURG ’21
Taylor made a huge impact on his game, particularly on defense. He guarded Churchill’s best player and made life difficult with his ability to face-guard. Taylor was best offensively when he was getting downhill, particularly in transition.
