Bijan Cortes has hit another level
What we are seeing this year is Bijan Cortes turning his play up to a completely different level. The Oklahoma 2021 commit has clearly been in the gym working on his game. The jumper of Cortes is what stands out. For most of his career, the note on Cortes has been his shooting is below average. After this season people will be hard-pressed to say that considering he is shooting over 50% from behind the arc for the Yellowjackets. Cortes will have to continue to prove it on the NIKE EYBL this summer. I am confident after seeing him a couple of times this year he has added that to his bag. Of course, you can not talk about Cortes without mentioning his amazing abilities to create off the dribble for others and himself. Cortes is going to open eyes this summer.
Matthew Stone flying under the radar
There is certainly a prospect flying a bit under the radar for the Yellowjackets. If put in a spot for success this summer Stone is going to blow up with NCAA D1 offers. I say IF because it is important for Stone to be a featured Wing prospect on whatever team he lands on this spring and summer.
Over the past several years we have all seen the sharp skill set Stone possesses. What I continue to see in Stone is beyond his skill set. The hard work this kid puts on the court every night is special. The kid would run through a wall to help his team win a ballgame. Watch the tape we put out on how Stone attacked the offensive glass and you will see what I am talking about. Stone had Belmont in attendance watching last night. This summer the walls should be lined with NCAA D1’s from LM to HM to see what Stone brings to the table.
Jarrett Grisham has big night
The OKC Storm has found its next star in Jarrett Grisham. He went off against Kingfisher tallying 24 points in the tough loss. What was most promising is Grisham scoring at all three levels. He still has a long way to go but put Grisham on the list of 2022’s to keep a close eye on in the state of Oklahoma.
Cooper Peterson catches fire
Cooper Peterson caught fire to open up the game hitting three straight three-pointers. Kingfisher did a great job closing out on him for the rest of the night. Peterson did show off a nice drive to the bucket and ways to be effective. NAIA programs should give Peterson a strong look.
