Ricketts, a 6’1 guard from North Posey (IN), this season is averaging 24.9 points per game, the highest of his career. He’s had a few big games this year with 30 points against Mater Dei, 39 against Day School, and 35 against Mt. Vernon. He’s only had one game with less than 10 points and that was against South Spencer.
North Posey is sitting at 12-8 this season, much better than the previous couple years as they only won 8 games last year and 13 the year before. With only two regular season games left and at the rate that he is averaging, there isn’t a ton he can do with only 3 games guaranteed.
The hope is they can make a run in the postseason but their Sectional is one of the hardest in the state for small schools with Evansville Mater Dei, South Spencer, Southridge, as well as Forest Park and Tecumseh. North Posey is 1-4 against Sectional opponents with a win over Tecumseh. So, they will need some luck and the best basketball they have played all year.
If Ricketts can continue his pace of 24.9 points per game with a minimum of 3 games to go, he should have no problem getting into the Top 50 All-Time and could see it rise as much as Top 40. The kicker here is any extra games he gets on top of the 3 games minimum. A Sectional Championship run? That could get him into the Top 30 and really cement his place.
Over the next couple of games, he will pass some greats from R.J. Mahurin (Rockville, 2009), Woody Austin (Richmond, 1988), and Clay Yeo (Triton, 2013).
