All five seniors Tari Eason, Vatrevyon Garner, Kendall Munson, Shata Stephenson and Justin White heard their names called during the starting lineups before tip-off. Garfield began the game on an 8-0 run, Garner was responsible for six of the eight points as he hit two 3-point shots and bringing the intensity on defense causing a timeout by Ingraham head coach.
Bulldogs refused to take their foot of the gas whether Kendall Munson dominated the inside, from Tari Eason making mid-range shots or going coast-to-coast, to Koren Johnson and Jaylin Stewart hitting three-point shots consistently. Garfield as a unit were clicking on all possible cylinders offensively, defensively and sticking to their team principles.
Heading into halftime the Bulldogs had a commanding 27-point lead while only allowing 25 points. Eason, Garner, Munson, Johnson and Stewart were responsible for all 52 points at halftime.
Second half began just like the first for Garfield, going on a 6-0 run forcing another early timeout. Eason, who hit shots despite a defender’s hand in his face to rebounding or finding a teammate in transition. Munson controlled both offensive and defensive interiors. With an impressive third quarter from Cincinnati and Pepperdine commits, Bulldogs were up 32 points before the fourth quarter began.
As the final buzzer sounded off Garfield won 102-56, winning by 46 on senior night and as a team managed to shoot 57% from the field. Seniors Eason, Garner and Munson combined for 59 points while underclassmen Johnson and Stewart poured in 15 and 13 points. The Bulldogs final regular season game is this Friday February 7th against longtime rival Franklin High School.
