There are some tight races with conference winners and some that teams that already have the league won. With that, we focus on who we believe has the chance to be the conference MVP. This one is a bit tough because the conference has a team that has played 11 league games and others that have played only three. All teams also do not update their stats so it becomes tricky and makes it very hard to determine who is doing exceptionally well and who is just fitting in. Here, we take at some of the top players in the conference.
The Favorite:
Moises Cabral – Parkhill Christian
Cabral is the most consistent player in the conference without a doubt and is a player that has been playing varsity basketball forever it seems like. He just recently crossed over into the 1,000 point scorers club and he has been a player that scores at will. In his senior season, he is having his best season as he is putting up 17.6 points a game and also the senior captain is helping in other ways. He is averaging 4.0 rebounds and 3.9 assists and showing that it is not only scoring the basketball that he can do. He will most likely be the MVP for the conference.
The Second Favorite:
Christopher Pacheco – Parkhill Christian
Parkhill Christian is good with updating their stats and their best rebounder on the team that is also off to a pretty good season is Senior forward Pacheco. He is putting up 15 points a game and also is close to averaging a double-double with 9.5 rebounds as well. While those are two incredible stat lines what really stands out for me is the defense. He is putting up 4.4 steals and 2.0 blocks a game. That is being dedicated to both sides of the floor, using your size and also helping the team in any way possible.
The Third Favorite:
Morgan Schrock – Colorado Legacy Sports
This is a team that has not had close to the type of season that they wanted to have but still have had solid production from their guard who is the only player on the team that is averaging in double figures. He is scoring the basketball while facing double teams, getting shots off as well as getting to the rim. He is putting up 14.4 points a game but is also boarding heavy which is giving himself and his team more opportunities to score. He is up to 8.4 boards a game and that has been an area that he has excelled at in his high school career. He refuses to be outrebounded and works hard for every single board.
The Longshot:
Zuriel Williams – Denver Street
The only reason that he does not have a legitimate chance is because of how badly Denver Street has been this season. They are not winning games and his chances are suffering as a result but he has had a pretty solid season nonetheless. Williams is putting up 14.3 points and 9.6 rebounds in his senior season and is a rim runner that gets to his spots and makes the defense pay. He is a solid shooter who does not shoot a ton but is efficient when he takes it as he is 55% from beyond the arc in 44 attempts. He gets to the rim and breaks down the defense and can put the ball on the floor. He is a player to watch despite his team not having a good year.
