Now, it is time to take a look at some teams that have been enjoying very productive seasons while operating Under the Radar. Here is a list of some of those good teams.
Ruskin: The Golden Eagles are currently 16-4 and ranked No. 9 in the Class 4 rankings. They were the champions of the Patterson Division of the William Jewell Classic in late-December. They feature one of the top players in the Kansas City area in 6’5″ 2021 forward Tavion Banks, an explosive forward who gets double-doubles on the regular. Bringing ample support are 6’0″ 2020 Tyrone Moore, 5’10” 2021 Jalen Dunn, 6’4″ 2021 forward Elijah Corner and 6’1″ 2022 guard Donald Bangham.
New Franklin: The Bulldogs were Class 2 district champions last season and started the season with 20 consecutive victories before suffering their first loss this week. They have also won two in-season tournaments. The Bulldogs feature an awesome excellent guard-forward combination in 5’9″ 2020 point guard Tyler Perkins and 2020 forward Gavin Bishop, who both scored their 1,000th career points last week. A pair of underclassmen who are making things happen are 2022 Tre Cowans and 2021 Tyson Dowell.
McKinley Classical: The Goldbugs have quietly enjoyed a tremendous season with a 17-2 record, which includes the championship of the Bruce Thomas Tournament at Herculaneum. Their top scorer is 2020 guard Tyler Jones, who is averaging 15 points a game while 6’4″ 2020 forward Aaric Norman is averaging 14 points, 10 rebounds and five blocks a game. Derryl Howard and JaDun Byrd are a pair of 2020 guards who combine to average 18 points a game.
Kennett: The Indians are having an excellent season down in the boot with a 17-6 record and they get it done with some boss 3-point shooting. They have several players who are capable of knocking down multiple 3-point shooters, including 6’2″ 2022 Ben McMullan, 2020 guard Jackson Henfling and 2021 guard Kobe Gates.
Bolivar: The Liberators were in the Class 4 state championship game in 2017 and have been building back up for the past couple of years. That building has paid off with a 17-1 record this season and No. 7 ranking in Class 4. They have an excellent guard in 6’0″ 2020 Hunter Berry and a talented freshman in 6’5″ forward Kyle Pock. Dylan Rowell is another capable 2020 performer.
Montgomery County: The Wildcats have been rolling along with a 20-2 record, which includes an 18 game winning streak. They are led by the talented brother act in 6’8 2020 forward Carson Parker and 6’7 2021 forward Colin Parker.
Lesterville: The Bearcats have put together a very nice 18-6 season with a balanced scoring attack with four players averaging in double figures. Class of 2020 guard Holden Laughman is averaging 15 points a game, followed by 5’11” 2020 guard Vince Mathes at 14.5 points, 6’3″ 2020 forward James Gibson at 13.6 points and 6’1″ 2020 Brendan Myers at 11.0 points.
