#1 Millennium 17-1 (5A)
Millennium once again comes in as the #1 overall team in the state. This means that Millennium has come in at the #1 spot in 5A and in state every week this season. Big congrats to them! That is special.
#2 Desert Vista 17-2 (6A)
DV comes in at #2 overall, finishing #1 in the 6A power rankings. I think right now DV looks like the front runner for state but wouldn’t count out the #2 overall team in 6A.
#3 Ironwood 17-1 (5A)
Ironwood looks really hot right now and if anyone is going to take down Millennium, I think Ironwood will be that team. They now have size and have always had incredible guard play. Good luck to them in the title hunt!
#4 Skyline 16-2 (6A)
I previously mentioned Skyline, I think they have a very solid chance at winning the 6A state title. I really think it is between DV and Skyline and I really hope that happens and we get to see these teams face off!
#5 Salpointe Catholic 17-1 (4A)
Salpointe Catholic is the #1 overall seed in 4A but come in at #5 in the overall state rankings. While Salpointe is really good, I don’t think they would match up well with the teams above them. Right now, Salpointe looks like the front runner for the 4A state title.
#6 Peoria 18-0 (4A)
Peoria is a very strong contender for the 4A state title. Once again, the 4A team’s come in a little lower on the list as there are some absolute heavy hitters at the top of 6A and 5A.
#7 Gilbert 16-2 (5A)
Gilbert is another great team in 5A. Many didn’t expect this kind of success from them this season, losing their two key players from last season. However, Coach Caserio has once again led this group to a successful season and hopefully back to the state title game.
#8 Catalina Foothills 17-1 (4A)
Catalina Foothills is the #3 overall team in 4A. It’s really the same case as the other 4A teams as to why they come in a little lower on the overall state rankings.
#9 St. Mary’s 17-1 (4A)
St. Mary’s is 4A’s #4 overall team. I think they could actually shock people and make a run for the state title game. They have had a much harder schedule in my opinion, than some of their other 4A counterparts. We’ll see what happens!
#10 South Mountain 16-2 (5A)
Finishing our last all-state power rankings for the year is South Mountain. They have turned in a great year and could make some noise come playoff time. They have really good guard play, are well coached, and have a skilled big man down low. I would not want to run into them come playoff time.
