Eastern Kansas League (EKL)
Bishop Miege, Blue Valley, Blue Valley North, Blue Valley Northwest, Blue Valley Southwest, Blue Valley West, Mill Valley, St. James, St. Thomas Aquinas.
Garrett Lynch, 6’4, F, 2022, St. James Academy
Another up and coming prospect who has good size and feel for inside play. He can handle himself on the perimeter at times but is asked to lay a more central role inside the paint from the low and high post area. Lynch is averaging 6.8 points, 5.1 rebounds, one steal and nearly one block. He’s shooting 41 percent from the floor and 33 percent from 3-point range. He doesn’t look to score from the arc much, but he does get looks and will shoot an open shot.
Mark Mitchell, 6’8, SF, 2022, Bishop Miege
A terrific forward prospect with elite size, length and athleticism. Mitchell has terrific handles for the wing position and excellent vision and passing abilities in transition. There’s really not much he can’t do at a high level. He dominates the game around the paint and can finish plays left and right above the rim as he always seems to find ways to fill out a highlight reel. An elite player who impacts a game at every level.
Mikey Pauley, 6’4, F, 2022, Blue Valley Northwest
Also a standout on the football field, Pauley is a strong player who earns his stripes on the defensive side of the floor. A crafty player who is physical and smart as a defender. He has quick hands inside and brings speed to the floor in a way that is often overlooked. Also a strong passer who has solid vision and an athletic mindset.
Aidan Shaw, 6’7, F, 2022, Blue Valley
An elite prospect with an extremely high ceiling, Shaw has a rare combination of athleticism, size, handles and overall playmaking ability. He plays great inside given his size, length and overall physicality and brings an edge and toughness rarely found in players his age. He impacts the game on nearly every level and shows range as a shooter and the handles which allow him to break down defenses and see a lot of time as a wing player. A tough two-way player who looks to block shots, force turnovers and finish above at the rim in transition. Shaw currently holds offers from Oklahoma State, TCU, Iowa, Mizzou, USC and Vanderbilt.
Sam Somerhalder, 6’6, G/F, 2022, St. James
Somerhalder is an aggressive young player with terrific height and flexibility around the basket. He’s listed at 6’6 and has good length and a willingness to compete against seasoned vets who are more physical on the block. He doesn’t back down from The challenge and brings good awareness and inability to come down with the ball and then go up and finish. Somerhalder is averaging 12.1 points, 2 assists, 6.9 rebounds, 1.3 steals and one block per game. He’s averaging 54 percent from the field, looking to play physical and get looks close to the basket and score high-percentage shots.
