Dubuque Hempstead wing Michael Duax commits to Northern Iowa
Ben Jacobson and Northern Iowa have been having a spectacular 2019-2020 season, and they just added a huge piece in the 2021 class on Tuesday.
Dubuque Hempstead guard/forward Michael Duax announced via Twitter on Tuesday night that he has committed to Northern Iowa.
The Panthers were Duax’s only known offer, while Wisconsin, Iowa, and a couple of other Missouri Valley programs were showing interest in Duax.
Duax is the first known commitment in UNI’s 2021 class. The Panthers’ 2020 class consists of Norwalk’s Bowen Born, North Scott’s Ty Anderson, and Lake City (MN) shooting guard Nathan Heise.
Per QuikStats, the 6-foot-5 Duax is averaging 20.6 points per game while shooting 51 percent from the field and 35 percent from 3-point land this season.
“This 6-5 wing has a little bit of everything in his offensive arsenal, with the ability to score from all three levels, facilitate, crash the glass, and he should get his share of easy ones with his prowess on the defensive end of the floor as well,” wrote PrepHoops’ Tony Roe of Duax before the season.
The other 2021 in-state prospect that Northern Iowa has extended an offer to is Cedar Falls forward Chase Courbat.
Duax runs with Martin Bros on the AAU Circuit.
