It was a very dominant performance shown by Desert Vista. The duo of DeSean Lecque and Osasere Ighodaro is absolute fire power! Add in Marcus Wady, Andrew King, and John Soloman into the mix and you have a really tough starting 5.
DV showed really tough defense and really dominated the glass. They did a ton of damage in transition, resulting in the vast majority of their points. DV has absolute athletes on their squad and any rebound/turnover is a fast break dunk waiting to happen.
While the score may not reflect it, I thought Valley Vista played a great game. They played really good half court defense and while they struggled offensively in the first half, they put some things together in the second half.
I was really impressed with the play of Elijah Thomas, Dwight McKnight, and Aadem Isai. All 3 players will be returning next season and I think they’ll be right back in the playoffs next year ready to make another run at it. McKnight really impressed me with his ball handling ability. He easily wove in and out past defenders and broke a few ankles as well.
It was a very hard fought game from Valley Vista and they never gave up even when down big late in the game. I really respect that fight in a team. They just simply couldn’t match the size and athleticism of Desert Vista. Valley has some really tremendous athletes as well, that just speaks to how athletic the DV team is.
Desert Vista advances to play Cesar Chavez.
Final Score: 77-54
