Day 1 Top Playoff Performers
2A is a toss up. With Draper APA, Enterprise, Kanab, North Summit, Beaver, Rowland Hall and American Heritage getting Bye’s we look forward to a more competitive 2nd Round. Kanab nabbed the 1 seed and has a fairly decent strength of schedule. Region foe Parowan has the #2 seed as they had a great win against a 4A school. Rowland Hall is in the 3 spot. They didn’t have the best schedule but ran right through their region. Draper APA, is the 4 spot and doesn’t has a clear cut signature win. The 5 seed Gunnison Valley played some tough teams but couldn’t pull out a win. Beware of Enterprise, Beaver and American Heritage. This tournament should be a lot of fun. American Hertitage is that sleeper nobody wants to face. Games will be played at Snow College.
5’10 Gavin Davis (Duchesne)
Gavin had a monster performance in the 1st round of the playoff. He erupted for 31 points. He had 32 earlier this season so he is a capable scorer. They will noe face a Beaver team that is better but a team that Davis and teammates almost beat by 20 points. Should be an interesting game.
5’10 Sayveon Armstrong Sayveon Armstrong 5'9" | PG St. Joseph | 2020 State UT (St. Joseph’s)
Right on cue Sayveon went off for 33 points in a first round win. His crafty style and willingness and determination to score is second to none. IN the next round it will be interesting what a deeper Parowan team does to stop Sayveon.
6’3 Burke Mickelsen (North Sevier)
Burke lead all scores in a route as he scored 22 points. Burke has scored in double figures in 20 of 22 games this year. He is also rebounding the ball well and he is always good for 2 steals a game. Burke is a prototypical 3 in 2A that help bolster North Sevier’s chances of advancing in the next round.
6’5 Kane Allred (Grand)
Kane had himself a night as he scored 30 points and brought in 6 rebounds. Kane is a problem in the paint as he can get a double double on any night. At 6’5 and with a lack of size in 2A Kane will need to continue his aggressive play.
