6’6 F Keegan Munson (Desert Hills High School)
The lowest seed left in the playoffs is in part because of Keegan’s stellar timely play. Although he was not the leading scorer he was the difference especially because he was outsized by two players on the opposing team. At the end of the day he had 18 points and 12 rebounds and each one of those was earned. He attacked the glass and didn’t wait for the rebound to come to him. He finished with contact and was able to get offensive boards.
6’10 C Jackson Schumann (Sky View High School)
If someone would of told you that Sky View’s two best players would combine for 14 points and they would win, you would say they were crazy. In comes Jackson Schumann who notched a HUGE double-double to avoid one of the biggest upsets in the tournament regardless of classification. Jackson had 11 points and 10 rebounds and more than anything else he had some huge moments at the free-throw-line.
5’10 SG Matty Rodriguez (Juan Diego High School)
When Juan Diego needed someone to step up they got it from one of the shortest players on their roster in Matty Rodriguez as he had a 10 point 3rd quarter that sparked his team and helped them develop a double-digit lead. He was able to get to the basket with his crafty moves and was able to get others involved without forcing the action. This is only the 3rd time that Matty has scored in double figures this year and it was timely.
