College Commitment: Guy Littlefield (2020 Forest Grove HS)
As the saying goes, there’s no place like home. Guy Littlefield could certainly attest to that. The muscular 6-foot, 175-pound point guard from Forest Grove High School certainly stayed open in the recruiting process to all options going into his senior year, knowing that his high-academic profile would merit him plenty of attention. But when it came down to it, Littlefield had what he wanted in his backyard and late last week he called to commit to Pacific University.
“A big part of my choice was my education and I’ll think I’ll get an amazing education there,” Littlefield said. “I love the staff and Coach (Justin) Lunt is awesome and his staff is amazing. They’ve got a lot of great players. I’ve been in some open gyms with them and I think they’re a great group of guys that push themselves hard. It felt like the right fit and it’s a place where I can call home.”
Pacific of course is located in Forest Grove, which is home for Littlefield. The Boxers have known about him for quite some time and vice versa, so it’s no surprise that they’ve been at the top of the list. “They’ve always been a big frontrunner,” Littlefield said. “For people that have been to Forest Grove, it’s a special place. It’s a small community and for that reason it was very intriguing.”
What Pacific gets in Littlefield is a strong point guard who can really get to the basket and use his strength to overpower defenders. He’s excited about the opportunities on the court in Pacific’s system and feels that he will fit right into the style of play.
“I think as a point guard I can push the pace and find guys,” Littlefield said. “This year I’ve gotten a lot of attention from other teams sending doubles or even just packing the paint. So at the next level I’ll continue to be able to find guys and get to the rim. I’ll be working on my jump shot a lot and Coach Lunt and his staff does a great job of getting guys in the gym and letting them get through their programs and get their shots up.”
While unfortunately Forest Grove missed the post-season and Littlefield himself missed the last couple of games due to injury, he looks back on this past season with a lot of fond memories.
“Although it wasn’t what our team wanted, which was making the playoffs, but this was the most fun year I’ve had playing basketball,” Littlefield said. “Every single one of these guys I consider a close friend and I’ll be excited to see them play next year too.”
Littlefield currently ranks as the #37 player in the PrepHoops Oregon Class of 2020 rankings.
