The offers have been coming in at a much slower rate for this group in comparison to the loaded 2021 class ahead of them, but it is only a matter of time before colleges begin making these guys a real priority on their recruitment boards.
Blassingame Enters Top 5:
One new name within the top 5 is Tre Blassingame. Tre was previously ranked at number 6 and slid up one slot to number 5. Tre has truly begun to blossom in his sophomore season, helping Auburn to a 21-4 record so far. He has now grown to 6’5 and does appear to be done growing at all. I would not be surprised to see him reach 6’7 plus and maintain his perimeter skills that he has developed before ever hitting a major growth spurt in high school. Tre possesses good length, a versatile skill set and a soft shooting touch. He will have potential to defend multiple positions at the next level and has put himself in the discussion of being a legitimate Division 1 prospect with continued development. *Feature image
Koren Johnson Takes Next Step In Development:
6’1 combo guard Koren Johnson has stepped up in a major way for his sophomore season. He has shown the ability to be an explosive scorer for the 19-3 Garfield Bulldogs, putting up 35 one game. One of the biggest growth areas for Koren has been his motor, which appears to be much more consistent from a year ago. Koren can shoot it from deep, take his man off the bounce and finish with skill inside the paint. He currently ranks as the number 4 prospect in the class for Washington.
Three Forwards Round Out Top 3:
3) 6’7 PF Kaeden McGlothin (Stanwood HS) – Kaeden is the most athletic of this bunch. He has a strong and muscular frame for his age and good length. His jumping ability is eye popping and he is good for highlight plays whether it is a dunk in transition, a momentum shifting block or a big time rebound. His basketball IQ and all around skill set is catching up to his size and athleticism, but he has tools that cannot be taught. At the Prep Hoops Top 250 Expo, he impressed me with his willingness to be coachable and get better. How his offensive skills grow in this Spring and Summer will be very telling for just how good he will become.
2) 6’6 SF Tyler Mrus (Seattle Prep) – Mrus has been on our radar since stepping onto the scene his freshman season and he has not disappointed. He has a thinner frame right now, but possesses length, running ability and some inside-out skills that allow to play the 3 or 4 right now. Mrus was recently named third team All Metro League and has helped Seattle Prep to a 19-5 overall record.
1) 6’7 PF Tyler Linhardt (King’s HS) – Linhardt has held the number 1 ranking for the class since the initial release and nothing has changed to make it any different. His athleticism has finally started to pop a little more and he is finishing above the rim more frequently. His ground game is still there and he has all of the crafty head and shoulder fakes and step throughs to keep defenders off balance. His ability to hit the three ball just makes him that much more difficult to defend. Boise State and Eastern Washington have already offered the four man.
