Today in downtown Jacksonville we feature a 4A-District playoff game between the Ribault Trojans and the Paxon Golden Eagles. Highly recruited Isaiah Adams will look to shine in these playoffs and show why he has received D1 scholarship offers. Paxon showed their dominance early. The full-court press of the Golden Eagles frustrated the Trojans. Going into the second period, the Trojans pushed back winning the period 19-13. Ribault seemed to have a deep roster with Sophmore and Freshmen coming off the bench. The bench for Ribault kept them in the game providing solid minutes, outscoring the Paxon bench. At the end of the day, Paxon seemed to be too much for the Trojans to handle but there was good talent on both teams.
Player analysis
Isaiah Adams – 6’6″- Wing – Sr.
This senior can guard anyone on the court is a versatile big man in high school. As he transitions to the next level you will see him more so on the wing. Isaiah is an athletic player with a high ceiling. Defensively he is a nightmare for the other team with great length and jumping ability. Then on offense, he has a solid inside game and jump shot.
Jakobe Williams – G – 5’10” – Jr.
Jakobe is one of the starting guards for Paxon. A very athletic frontcourt is what will be the determining factor on how far Paxon will go in this year’s playoffs. Jakobe is very tenacious on defense and has a nice jump shot for the Golden Eagles.
Quinnton Jackson – G – 5’11” – Jr.
Quinnton is the other starting guard for Paxon. Pairing him and Jakobe is what makes Paxon tick. These two on defense cause mayhem for other teams. Quinnton, in particular, knows how to jump the passing lanes very well. Then on the fast break, Quinnton is great, either scoring himself or finding the right man.
(Left) Malcolm-Jamal Harris (Middle) Marquis Harris (Right) George Woods
For Ribault, these three players are going to have a bright future. Off the bench, these three provided a spark for the Trojans this year. As a freshman, George Woods was a big part of Ribaults game plan. At point guard, he had significant time handling the ball and recorded eleven points in his first playoff game with a nice shot from three. Also, at guard for Ribault is Marquis Harris (Sophmore). Another ball handler with the ability to spread the floor. Lastly, there is Malcolm-Jamal Harris, Sophmore forward. In this game, he received more minutes than usual because of an injury. He used this time to shine and showed us that he could become a big presence down low. He is a very lengthy forward for Ribault and could grow into a talented player in years to come.
