2022
Lemond Shaw 6’6″ DuBourg: The 6’6″ wing scored 14 points in the Cavaliers’ easy victory over Principia in the first round. He is a versatile athlete who is very comfortable with the ball in his hands as the facilitator of the offense. He is a matchup problem with his size and skill set as he can score at the rim or attack the offensive boards against smaller defenders. He also had a pair of highlight reel dunks in the second half to showcase his athleticism. He is at his best when he is on the attack.
James Williams III 5’11” Whitfield: The young sharpshooter scored a game-high 19 points in the Warriors’ victory over Valley Park. He was one of the top perimeter shooters that I watched during the day as he knocked down five of them from long distance. He had a very confident stroke off the catch and also in the transition game. He helped break open a close game with his shooting in the third quarter.
Eddie Weekly 6’2″ DuBourg: A young combo guard with good size and the ability to knock down shots from 3-point range and also get to the basket off the dribble. He is a capable offensive player who spent much of the game against Principia in a facilitator role. He pushed the ball with good pace and found open teammates throughout the game.
2023
Nolan Simon 5’9″ Whitfield: The talented young guard scored 17 points the Warriors victory over Valley Park. He may be small, but he loves the action around the basket as he loves to get down hill and attack in the lane. He does an excellent job of finishing with twisting layups and short jumpers because he is physically strong and tough. He also got out in the transition game and had some nice dipso-do finishes that were crowd pleasers.
Jordan Williams 5’8″ Whitfield: One of the state’s top point guards in the 2023 class, Williams scored 14 points in the Warriors victory over Valley Park. The talented young southpaw has electric quickness in the open court and a high basketball IQ to go along with it. He can penetrate and find the open man with his court vision, plus he has a nice float game in the lane with the ability to hit the 3-point shot.
