Continue ReadingMonday and Tuesday night were busy nights for prospects around the state, with conference matchups taking place and many of these games having seeding implications. Let’s dive right in and check out some of the top performers on the court and some players that college coaches will want to add to their list.
- High Point Christian Senior Guard Landon Sutton has been filling up the scoring sheet all season and last night was no exception. He dropped 40 Points for his squad which was enough to help them to get the win in the first round and advance. Sutton has to be in the discussion as one of the best shooters in the state, he’s consistent and has a nice amount of range on his shot.
- Washington HS Senior Guard Rashod Smith has picked up offers from Bluefield College and Lenior CC over the past few weeks. He’s still a prospect that is under the radar for many but his numbers speak volumes. He dropped 35 points Tuesday night in a win over West Craven which only adds to his 21 point, 7 Assist & 3 steals per game numbers.
- The Douglas Byrd Eagles have had a rough season but one of the bright spots for their team in the second semester has been the play of Junior Guard Shawn Jones. In their matchup with Grays Creek HS, Jones went for 30 Points to help lead his team to a win, which should give this young squad some much needed confidence heading into tournament time.
- Riverside-Williamston has a rising star in 6’6 Sophomore Wing Avion Pinner who has been putting up tremendous numbers all season long. Pinner continued his streak of big time games with a 38 Point/15 Rebound performance in a win over Southside HS. If you’re a D1 program that’s look to get an early look at some talent, he’s a player that absolutely has to be on your list.
- NCCU fans should go ahead and be excited as their signee Farmville Central PG Justin Wright continues to play at a dominate level and is in the mix as one of the top PG’s in the state. The Jags had a competitive game with Southwest Edgecombe and the 33 Points they picked up from Wright are part of the reason they were able to prevail. Wright does a nice job of playing the game at his own pace and picks defenses apart with ease, he has a nice IQ and will be a huge part pf their attempt to repeat as champions.
- Lee County seems to be hitting their stride and Senior G/F Jarrian Hancock has a lot to do with that, the 6’5 prospect has been consistently solid for their team providing much needed production. In their matchup with Harnett Central he would go for 19 points to help lead the team to a victory. College programs such as: Mount Olive, Bluefield and Averett have all dropped in this week to check him out.
