It seems like only yesterday I was watching Liberty and Arbor View tip off the season. Throughout the year we have had some remarkable performances. While everyone wants to be the leading scorers, contributions come in all forms. Over the next few days, I will be selecting my All- PH Team’s, celebrating valuable skills that go into making a successful squad. In this article, we take a look at the PrepHoopsNevada All Glue Guy Team, celebrating the players whose contributions hold their teams together.
1st Team
PG: Faizon Woods 6’0 Legacy 2020 – Gritty on-ball defender. Woods challenges ballhandlers and competes hard for every inch of the court. On the offensive end, he’s efficient when handling PG duties, and can score when he plays off the ball. Always willing to take and make the big shot for his team.
W: Max Heinz 6’2 Faith Lutheran 2021 – Unselfish teammate that plays with maximum effort. Heinz is an elite level help defender and earns extra possessions for his team with his energy and effort.
W: Demitri Clair 6’2 Foothill 2020 – Clair’s value comes in the form of defensive versatility and effort. He won’t back down from larger players and has the confidence to step up and make big plays for his team.
PF: Mike Martin 6’2 Spring Valley 2020 – Martin is the heart and soul of his team. A pitbull defender that battles players twice his size. Extra possession player that will hustle for rebounds on both the offensive and defensive end. One of the best interior finishers in the state.
P: Kendrick Gilbert 6’5 Durango 2020 (featured image) – Versatile defender that can guard multiple positions. Gilbert is a fluid, agile athlete that can hedge and switch ball screens. Good hands and a knack for finishing around the rim, Gilbert routinely puts up quiet 20 point nights.
6th Man: Semaj Threats 5’9 Desert Pines 2021 – Star in his role, Threats is a pesky on-ball defender that can change the game with his effort and energy. He doesn’t need to score to have an impact, however, Threats is adept at creating his own offense off the bounce.. Perhaps the best small guard rebounder in the state, Threats has mastered the skill of snatching the ball out of the hands of big guys, the second they bring it down.
2nd Team
PG: Lorenzo Abellar 5’8 Liberty 2021 – Gritty defender. Abellar changes games with his ability to disrupt ballhandlers. Pass first PG that looks to get teammates involved.
W: David Moore 6’2 Arbor View 2020 – Hard nose defender that can guard multiple defenders. Tough shot maker that finishes over larger players down low.
W: Davyon Rowe 6’0 Basic 2021 – Playmaking wing. Rowe has good vision and is an unselfish passer, with the ability to make plays for teammates.
PF: Harlan Nichols 6’4 Palo Verde 2020 – High energy guy that plays with maximum effort. Nichols is perhaps the most consistent floor sprinter in the state.
P: Fernando Carmona 6’5 Las Vegas 2021 – Banger post that defends and rebounds at a high level. Good athlete that runs the floor well, Carmona has soft hands and a nice touch out to 15.
6th Man: Alijah Banks 5’7 Canyon Springs – Strong on-ball defender that harrases ballhandlers. Solid PG who protects the ball well, and values possessions.
