It seems like only yesterday I was watching Liberty and Arbor View tip off the season. Throughout the year we have had some remarkable performances. While everyone wants to be the leading scorers, contributions come in all forms. Over the next few days, I will be selecting my All- PH Team’s, celebrating valuable skills that go into making a successful squad. In this article, we take a look at the PrepHoopsNevada All-Defense Teams, celebrating the top defensive players at their position in the state.
1st Team
PG: Anthony Hunter 5’11 Durango 2020 – Elite on-ball defender that influences and affects that way teams have to run their offense.
W: Larry Holmes 6’2 Arbor View 2020 – One of the top wing defenders in the state. Physical frame, quick feet, and a competitive edge. Holmes is one of the toughest players to beat off the bounce.
W: Dayshawn Wiley 6’3 Desert Pines 2021 (featured image) – Elite at several defensive skills including on-ball defense and rim protection.
PF: Mwani Wilkinson 6’6 Bishop Gorman 2020 – One of the top defensive players in the nation. Versatile defender that guards multiple positions.
P: Anthony Swift 6’6 Desert Pines 2021 – Elite rim protector that has the agility and athletic ability to chase down and contest shots at the rim.
6th man Semaj Threats 5’9 PG Desert Pines 2021 – Terrific on-ball defender that harasses ball handlers all over the court.
2nd Team
PG: Cort Ballinger 5’10 Bishop Manogue 2021 – Elite defender that can play both the passing lanes and lock up on ball.
W: Kade Madsen 6’2 Palo Verde 2020 – Underrated defender that spent most of the season guarding the opposing team’s top scorers and shutting them down in the process.
W: Jackson Williams 6’2 Faith Lutheran 2021 – Versatile defender with quick feet and length to deter and deflect passes.
PF: Kendrick Gilbert 6’4 Durango 2020 – Versatile defender with the ability to hedge and switch ball screens. You can routinely find Gilbert defending 2-5 in a high school game.
P: Jaylon Lee 6’8 Arbor View 2020 – Elite defensive rebounder who also serves as a low post defender and a rim protector.
6th Man: Tyson Guild 6’5 PF Durango 2021 – One of the top shot blockers in the state. Guild has a quick second jump and does a terrific job of contesting shots near the rim.
