This event brings in elite international talent from across the world together during NBA All-Star Weekend. Many of these players will play on high-major colleges and some will choose to go the professional route. Check out Basketball Without Borders: Top Wings!
Olivier Maxence-Prosper (Canada)
Maxence-Prosper is a prospect we are familiar with as he played last season at Lake Forest Academy before deciding to reclassify to 2020 and attend the NBA Latin America Academy. He has committed to play at Clemson next season. His development continues to impress each time we see him play. He is super long and stands at 6’8” with the ability to play both forward spots at the college level. The future ACC star is a force in transition with his long strides running the floor and how he plays with a fluidity above the rim. So quick to the glass from his wing spot especially for second chance points. Handles it pretty well for his size and can hit an occasional jumper although that isn’t his go to at this stage of his development. Multi positional defender at the college level.
Juhann Begarin (France)
Heard quite a bit of hype about Begarin coming into the camp. The 6’4” two guard has a strong body that will allow him to absorb contact. Struggled a bit when we saw him on Friday, but got more comfortable as the week went on. Sunday he got downhill including a sweet eurostep on the baseline. Hit some short jumpers. Didn’t display a ton of perimeter skill.
Pape Ablaye Sow (Senegal)
Sow stands at 6’7” with a thin and wiry frame. Long arms and will need to continue to add strength to make his biggest impact at the college level. Like how he slithered through the lane for slick scores. Defensively he used his length getting in passing lanes and recovering to block shots when he did get beat. Upside long term play.
Augusto Cruz Oliveria Cassia (Brazil)
We were very intrigued with the way this 6’6” wing played especially early in the event. Super long wing that can defend an array of spots on the floor. Quick explosion with the ball in his hands. Flies in to grab rebounds from out of his area. This young prospect has a developing jump shot. Hit one from three and should continue to improve in this area.
Yannick Kraag (Netherlands)
The 6’7” small forward really opened our eyes with his long term potential. Tremendous size, length, and athleticism out of this versatile wing. A streaky shooter that showed flashes of both good and bad shooting. Has a skill level that is a work in progress. High ceiling though with his physical tools.
Luc Van Slooten (Germany)
Van Slooten stands at 6’8” from Germany. The combo forward is a smooth athlete that had a couple nice dunks during the week. Also can let it fly from three point territory which he did multiple times from the wings.
Oluwatobi Samuel Ariyibi (Nigera)
This 6’7” small forward has plus size and length for the next level. Quick to the glass on both ends. Was very effective using his length on the defensive end blocking shots including a come from behind LBJ block in transition.
