Arkansas Valley-Chisholm Trail (I)
Derby, Campus, Hutchinson, Maize, Newton, Salina Central, Salina South
Jameer Clemons, 5’10, G, 2022, Derby
An intelligent young guard who is quick and has strong athleticism. Clemons can handle the ball and has the speed and movement to play off the ball well if he needs to. He can connect around the basket and has the athleticism in hustle to make plays, forced turnovers and get up in transition. He doesn’t have to fill out a stat sheet to make an impact and he shows the ability to stay hungry and play with a lot of energy and spark. He’s scoring 5 points, 1.7 rebounds and one steal per game while shooting 45 percent from the field.
Kyle Grill, 6’2, G, 2022, Maize
Grill is a good-sized guard who has a strong frame and build. He has good hops and makes plays around the rim in transition. He makes his best plays around the glass and is great at moving and creating. He can operate as a scoring guard and has the handles and vision to make an impact as a point guard as well. Grill is averaging 9.2 points, 2.2 assists, 4.2 rebounds and 1.4 steals per game. Grill is shooting 45 percent from the floor and 70 percent from the free throw line.
Jaden Gustafson, 2022, Maize
A physical player who looks to score and rebound. He has a strong frame and looks to mix things up in the lane and is always looking to make an impact on the defensive end of the floor. He’s averaging 5.3 points and 5.3 rebounds per game. He can force turnovers and has strong hands and looks to contest shots. He has an ability to make a splash on both ends and looks to play unselfishly and with purpose.
Logan Losey, G, 2022, Salina Central
Losey is an up-and-coming sophomore guard for Central who has great speed, ball control and an eye for defensive plays around the perimeter. He’s a good ball handler and likes to take chances in transition. He can force turnovers on the perimeter as he has good hands, speed and good upper body strength. Losey is also a terrific 3-point shooter who can stop-and-pop or catch-and-score depending on the situation.
Owen Mills, 6’6, 2022, Newton
A solid forward for Newton who brings size and length to the floor. He’s a young player but one who has a good feel for the game plan and how he can use his build around the paint. Mils is averaging 6.9 points and a team-high 7.1 rebounds. He is a good defensive rebounder but can also secure a rebound and put up second chance points on the offensive side as well.
Nolan Puckett, 6’0, G, 2022, Salina Central
Another sophomore guard who can shoot the three and find space in tight situations. Puckett is a nice scoring option who can handle the ball some and operate as a wing or combo guard player and sees time inside the paint some as a defender. . He has good length and is well-conditioned and has an eye for finding open shots and is talented enough to score the contested 3-pointer. A sophomore who has potential and is always looking to make a play on both ends of the floor.
Amari Thomas, G/F, 2022, Derby
Thomas is a strong player for Derby who takes good chances as a defender and can also score for himself on offense. Thomas has a nice basketball frame and the athleticism to and speed to handle an up-and-down style of play in a variety of positions. He handles the low and high post and shows solid footwork and off the ball play. He’s shooting 40 percent from the field and 70 percent from the free throw line, hitting 26-37. He’s averaging 7 points per game, one assist and 3.5 rebounds.
