With that will sadly mean the Cavaliers athletic program will be ending as well, and a number of the players on the men’s basketball team will be looking for a new homes.
Here’s a look at players currently on the Cavs roster with remaining college eligibility originally from the states of Arizona and Washington (we previously looked at the players from Oregon). Schools in the Great Northwest Conference are possible landing spots, as are NAIA/D-III schools both in the state of Oregon and elsewhere.
Bryce Cheney – Junior
Cheney has averaged 5.2 points and 3.0 rebounds in a role as instant offense off the bench for the Cavs. Originally from Moon Valley High School, he had some Division I offers out of high school but attended Mesa CC before coming up to Concordia. At 6-foot-7 he has good size on the perimeter and has one year of eligibility remaining. He’s already drawn the interest of fellow Great Northwest Athletic Conference members.
Isaac Morrow – Freshman
Morrow was a late signee for Concordia out of Curtis High School in Lakewood, Washington. The 6-foot-5 swingman was a high-academic standout that earned a lot of D-II/D-III interest out of high school and chose the Cavs partially due to the scholarship/financial assistance they were able to provide. On the season in a little over 9 minutes a game he’s averaged 1.6 points and 1.6 rebounds but has been getting a lot more playing time in the past ten games or so.
Dylan Sulilvan – Freshman
The true freshman from Walla Walla, Washington was also a late signee for the Cavs. He’s gotten spot minutes thus far this season, averaging 1.3 points in 7.6 minutes per game but has recently gotten more playing time as of late. Sullivan is a wing with some size and athleticism at 6-foot-5 and was getting recruited by a number of D-II/D-III/NAIA schools out of high school. He has three years of eligibility remaining.
Barrett Keith – Redshirt Freshman
The 6-foot-9 former Compass Prep standout originally from Colorado Springs has been out of action since the early part of the season. He did appear in the first four games this season, averaging 6.0 points and 2.8 rebounds in 12.3 minutes per game. He’s a big man with a pretty good touch from the perimeter, as evidenced by his hitting four out of five three-point attempts and all six free throws in his limited action this year. Keith should have three, if not four (depending on appeals), years of remaining eligibility.
