With that will sadly mean the Cavaliers athletic program will be ending as well, and a number of the players on the men’s basketball team will be looking for a new homes.
Here’s a look at the in-state players currently on the Cavs roster with remaining college eligibility. Schools in the Great Northwest Conference are possible landing spots, as are the NAIA/D-III schools in-state.
Hunter Sweet – Junior
The former Beaverton standout is leading the Cavaliers in scoring (13.0 ppg) and rebounding (5.3 rpg) while shooting .429 percent from three-point range. The strong 6-foot-4 swingman has a versatile offensive game and could provide immediate help to whichever squad gets his last year of playing eligibility.
Dakota Ayala – Junior
In his second season at Concordia, Ayala is averaging 11.3 ppg and 5.2 rpg, which both rank second on the team behind Sweet. The Reynolds graduate is a rock-solid 6-foot-7, 205-pound four man who has one year of eligibility left. Metro State in Colorado has already reached out to inquire.
Geno West – Junior (Redshirt)
West has been sitting out this season after transferring in from Idaho. He conceivably should have two years of playing eligibility left at the D-II/NAIA levels. The 6-foot-2 guard was a two-time 6A First Team All-State performer at Jefferson HS who averaged 7.5 ppg his sophomore season at Idaho in 2018-19.
Russell Tillery – Junior
Tillery has provided some offensive punch off of the bench for the Cavaliers, averaging 7.2 ppg in just over 24 mpg. The 6-foot Grant alumnus has one year of eligibility remaining.
Brendan Ritschard – Junior
Ritschard has been a solid reserve with the Cavs, averaging 3.9 ppg and 2.0 rpg in just over 16 mpg. The 6-foot former Centennial standout has one year left to play at the college level.
Dane Agost – Sophomore
Agost has been averaging 2.0 ppg and 2.1 rpg in spot minutes. The Clackamas alumnus has good size and athleticism at 6-foot-7 and also two years of eligibility left.
Caleb Larsen – Redshirt Freshman
A high-motor performer since his days at Wilsonville, Larsen has been a part-time starter at Concordia and is averaging 5.7 ppg and 2.0 apg in 20.3 mpg. As a redshirt freshman, he has three years of eligibility left.
