The two GCL co-ed rivals faced off Tuesday night for the final time this season, resulting in a season sweep for Alter over Carroll. While it was a fairly even game in regards to rebounding and turnovers, the Alter Knight’s efficiency around both the perimeter and inside the paint was the difference-maker. The Knight’s shot 10-23 from behind the arc and 22-44 total while Carroll shot 5-17 and 19-48 in total. Alter clinched the GCL co-ed title with this victory.
Standouts:
Brady Uhl ( 20pts, 2stl, 2ast ) is an absolute shooter. He has a solid, athletic frame and has great composure when guarded tightly. He has good movement off the ball and hits his shots. If he isn’t lighting it up from outside the arc, he will make his way in and start nailing mid-range jumpers. He is shooting 56% from the field this year as a senior. The 2020 has scored double digits in every game this year including 20+ in 4 of his last 5 games.
Conor Stolly ( 14pts, 2reb, 2ast ) is a 6’8″ PF and class of 2020 for Alter. He can also shoot lights out. He shot 3-5 from behind the arc and showed off his versatility as a player. Conor’s size and ability to pop out to the perimeter are going to be huge for him as he continues playing basketball. His size allows him to elevate and get good, open looks. Conor has multiple offers to play including, Walsh, Thomas More, Ashland, and more. As he continues to mature, I think he will add more physicality and strength in the paint to make him an even more versatile weapon.
Jacob Conner ( 11pts, 7reb, 5ast, 2blk ) is a 6’7″ G/SF. Yes, you did read that right. Jacob is lengthy, yet can still move like a high-level guard. His handles are crisp and his vision and passing are also improving. The 2022 has a high ceiling when it comes to his potential. He has already been on unofficial visits to the likes of Dayton and Xavier, and he recently announced he will be playing on the Adidas Gauntlet series with Wildcat Select. Jacob is currently ranked 8th in the state of Ohio for our 2022 class, but I wouldn’t doubt if that changes in the coming years. This summer he will be on a stage to really make a name for himself. Jacob shot 2-4 from downtown Tuesday night and is shooting 51% for the year from deep.
Jack Smith ( 11pts, 9reb, 5ast ) had an all-around performance Tuesday. He hit some big shots, showed off his aggressiveness on the boards, and got his teammates involved. He went 4-8 from the field and hit some momentum inducing threes. He also collected 4 offensive rebounds to create second-chance opportunities for his team. The 6’3″, 2020 SG is currently ranked 135 in the state.
Sean McKitrick ( 13pts ) and Johnny Deep ( 13pts, 6reb ) led the way for the Patriots. Sean is a 2023 guard with good ball-handling and shot 3-6 from behind the arc. He also showed the ability and desire to create chances for himself within a couple of dribbles. He will be a player to follow as he matures. Johnny Deep is a 6’5″ 2021 F. While Johnny hasn’t been a go-to scorer for the Patriots, he has had an efficient year shooting at 59% and shot 5-8 against Alter.
