He has helped to lead his team to a 21-7 record on the season and they sit in first place in their district. One more win will lock their spot in as a playoff team. The last three seasons he played at rival school Cypress Lakes and last year as a junior he averaged 12.7 points per game, 4 assists per game, and 3 steals per game. This season he is averaging 18.2 points per game, 4 assists per game, and 3 steals per game. He is also ranked 78th in on PHTX200 (Prep Hoops Texas Top 200)
Zech is a super high motor guard. He is one of the fastest guards in the state with the ball in his hands. He is a willing passer who can create for his teammates. He plays in your grill on-ball defense. He’s very pesky and is vocal on the floor. He is a leader and knows where everyone is supposed to be on the floor at all times. Gets a lot of quality paint touches and has a nice pull-up mid-range game.
What motivates you to play the game the way that you do? Family, knowing I can give hope to the people who inspire me who have done a lot for me. I also have a ridiculous love for the game of basketball. What area of your game has improved the most from last year? My 3 ball shot has improved the most, also my leadership to make my teammates better around me. How was this year’s summer ball different from past seasons? Summer ball was really no different as far as competition went. When playing on the shoe circuit it’s more about your individual performance. The biggest difference was playing for a better coach this past summer. What schools have been contacting you and what schools have offered you? I have been contacted by Texas State, SFA, Air Force, UMass Lowell, Tarleton State, and Abiline Christian. I have been offered by Pitt State and Texas A&M Commerce.
Zech is a prospect that will help out a collegiate program. I hope that God blesses him with a healthy finish to his high school season as they make a run towards the UIL State Title and a healthy collegiate career as well. Here is some footage with him playing.
