D.J. Stewart is a PHTX200 ranked prospect and has been a varsity basketball player for the past 3 years at Fort Bend Bush High School. They currently sit at 24-12 on the season and have a playoff game tonight. They finished third in their district this season even though they were a heavy favorite to win it. As a sophomore, they went 30-5 and made it to the third round of the playoffs, and as a junior last year they went 26-11 and made it to the fourth round of the playoffs. DJ is averaging 13.8 points per game, 5.9 assists per game, 5.5 rebounds per game, 3.9 steals per game, and averages 1.8 charges taken a game.
DJ is a pass-first point that is uber crafty with the ball in his hands. He plays the point position at multiple speeds and can go by his opponent at will. Very high basketball IQ on both sides of the basketball. Big time lead guard on the court and is a true floor general. Great in the pick-n-roll set and always gets his screener involved in the play. Forces defenses to collapse to create for his teammates. Has increased his ability to create his own shot and is shooting at a way higher rate than he did last season. He is a prospect that makes players better around him despite who is on the floor with him.
How are you doing? Great just blessed. If I never seen you play before describe your game to me? Pass first point guard, love to get my teammates involve, hustle man, and just very aggressive. What motivates you to play this game that you love so much? I have dyslexia so sometimes I may not be the smartest, but I know when I get on that court I’m going to destroy anyone who is in front of me.I also have my mom and dad. My step-parents, family, and best friend to support me. What areas of your game has improved the most since last season? My scoring, and creating open shots for myself here are some stats from my Last 4 games 13 vs Clements, 16 vs Austin (senior night), 15 vs Travis, and 20 vs Katy high school (playoffs). Everyone knows I’m a pass-first point guard. What schools have offered you and what schools have contacted you? Hardin-Simmons (NCAA D3), McMurry (NCAA D3), Saint Vincent College (NCAA D3), Southwestern College (NAIA D1), and Bethel College (NAIA D1). What do you like about each school that has offered? Hardin-Simmons very night campus and big for a d3, McMurry very small but everyone knows each other, Southwestern that everyone was at the game being supportive, Saint Vincent I haven’t been up there yet but I will get there soon, and Bethel has a great head coach. Thank you for your time and may God continue to bless you with health in this game that you love.
