Oak Mountain 60, Sparkman 51
Zane Nelson, Oak Mountain: Zane has been incredible all season. He now has led his Oak Mountain Eagles to their first Final Four appearance in school history. He is big on both ends of the court. His length allows him to score tough shots, but lock down on defense. His basketball IQ is great as he sees the floor well. He finished with 23 points, 8 rebounds, and 2 steals.
Tyrese Eliot, Sparkman: Tyrese is a guard that can do it all. He can score big buckets or be the court general his team needs. He has tremendous upside being so young, but the future is so bright for him. Although his team fell short, he played outstanding finishing with 25 points and 2 rebounds.
Will Shaver, Oak Mountain: Will is a monster in the paint. With Zane Nelson running the show on the perimeter, Will runs it on the inside. He played great against Sparkman on offense and defense, but will really need to bring his A-game to the Final Four. He had 11 points, 7 rebounds, and 4 blocks. Nothing was bigger than an emphatic dunk in the waning seconds to finish it off. He’s received an offer from UAB.
Mountain Brook 41, Spain Park 34
Colby Jones, Mountain Brook: The AL #1 player was brilliant today. In a low scoring game, he had 17 points, 7 rebounds, and 5 steals. He led the charge of the Spartan defense to take down Spain Park. The Jaguars acted like they would be hanging around through three quarters, but the harassing defense was the difference. Colby is long, quick, and strong which enables him to force turnovers and change the game.
JR Lambert, Spain Park: It was JR’s hot shooting that gave his team the chance to pull off one of the greatest upsets in the state. Spain Park won a combined 12 wins the last two years and was on the verge of reaching the Final Four. JR had 13 first half points on 4-5 from three. He came up a little short, but finished with 18 points.
