Kennett Indians trio of sharpshooters
Kennett was so much fun to watch. They have a dynamic ball-handler at the point who knifes his way into the lane and he has three quality shooting threats to kick out to. The trio of 6’3 Jr Kobe Gates, 6’3 Sr Jackson Henfling, and 6’2 So Ben McMullan all did an excellent job of re-positioning to open space on drives and connected on 10+ three-pointers in the wing over Oak Ridge. When all three of those guys are feeling it, Kennett can play with anyone.
6’2 Jr DeMarcus Sanford Jr | Lift for Life
DeMarcus put up his best offensive performance of the season in Lift for Life’s big win over Sikeston Saturday. He is going to be mentioned often in our recaps of the day, but he burned up the nets from deep at a level I haven’t seen since his summer with the Blazers. Sanford drilled five three pointers on the night, some of which in big time moments. The rangy point guard buried a heat check pull-up from about 25 feet late in the first half that seized control. Late in the game, in the midst of a Sikeston rally, he pulled up and knocked down a silencer that helped the Hawks recapture momentum. Big time outing for DeMarcus, who finished with a team-high 21 points.
5’9 Jr Kamron Meese | Risco
Risco’s junior point guard had a big game against East Prairie Saturday. He knocked down four three-pointers and kept the Tigers within striking distance most of the game. He can pull up off the dribble and does a nice job of running hard off screens and getting his feet set for rhythm jumpers.
6’0 So Trasean White | Confluence
For a team that is one knock down shooter away from being really hard to deal with, it makes a huge difference when one of their guys gets hot from long distance. Trasean hit a pair of big three pointers and was a key factor for Confluence, who nearly pulled off an impressive upset over Cape Notre Dame
5’9 Sr Drew Heisserer | Cape Notre Dame
I would advise opposing defenses to shy away from helping off Drew when he is spotted up in the corner. He burned Confluence a number of times, including a clutch trey during Notre Dame’s impressive come from behind fourth quarter victory.
6’2 Sr Sam Bledsoe | Charleston
Sam has most definitely had better shooting performances, but he was effective and is a college-ready shooter. He has a quick trigger and fluid release. Very strong footwork on the catch and rise. He is more than capable of taking over a game when he heats up. In Saturday’s win over John Burroughs, Same eclipsed the 1000 point scoring mark for his career.
