In the beginning of the year it seemed as if we were going to have a short list of teams that might be able to make a run. Now we see that we have a few more team scattered across the state that have a legit chance to lift that state trophy in the last game of the playoffs.
Region 1
Davis, Dart – Region 1 Champions
With not a lot of height Davis was able to survive a brutal region battle as they slayed the two pre-season favorites in Fremont and Layton. Their 13-1 record was due to the amount of production that they received from everyone on their roster. 6’3 Jake Sampson, 6’4 Trevan Leonhardt and 6’3 Spencer Vernon cam to play every game. Davis is a seasoned and tough team that has experience.
Region 2
West Jordan, Jaguars – Region 2 Champions
West Jordan went untouched in Region 2 10 of their 15 wins come from region play. Logan Price and Gabe Evans have been leading them all year long. They both do a little bit of everything. West Jordan might not make a deep run but they had a great year.
Region 3
Bingham/Copper Hills
With both teams tied entering their final game tonight it can go either way. On paper it appears that Bingham has the easier route but anything can happen. Bingham has 4 players putting up big numbers. Tyler West, Jordan Toscano, Justis Reiser and Ethan Langston. With alll of these players plus a lot of role player Bingham is a tough team that can compete with anyone.
Copper Hills has a tough task tonight against Jordan. Stone Hutchings is a solid player that is strong and is capable of taking over a game. He has some nice pieces around him including a pass first PG. Copper Hills will be a tough out come playoff time.
Region 4
Skyridge, Falcons – Region 4 Champions
With their move from 5A to 6A notoriously challenging Region 4, Skyridge overachieved as any team in this region on a good night could’ve run the table. With three dangerous players in Duncan Ried, Trevon Snoody and Braden Housely Skyridge is tough. They are one of those teams that could win it all if they’re on.
