10. Columbine
Columbine is coming off of two good wins this week beating Doherty and Pomona. The Doherty game was a close win with a buzzer beater finish, Tristan Alward hit the game winning shot from three point land; what a finish! This team has one of the best players in the state, Colorado commit Luke O’Brien. This year he is averaging 25.2 points and 12.1 rebounds per game. This week they have two big match ups when they play Mountain Vista and Ralston Valley. Ralston Valley will be a true test to see how good this Columbine team is.
9. Valor Christian
Valor Christian is coming off of a week with a tough loss to the top five Ralston Valley team, losing by two. This team has had a very tough schedule but have come out on top in some big games. This team is being led by an underrated junior, Amando Miller, who putting up 12.2 points per contest. Then his classmate AJ Kula has stepped up in the last six games averaging 13.6 points. It looks like their big man, Roger Rosengarten, is back in action after missing sometime with some football activities. He is a big addition back to this team which makes them even scarier! They have a good match up this week when they play a strong Pomona team.
8. Eaglecrest
Eaglecrest is coming off of some tough losses in the vigorous centennial league. The concern I have seen with this team they have yet to beat one of the top centennial league teams, coming close but not being able to pull out any big wins. This team is being led by senior guard Zion Ruckard who is having one of the best seasons in the state. One thing this team needs is either Skylar Wilson or Ty Robinson to step up in big games and take some weight off of Zion’s shoulders. Not to say these players have not played well both putting up over ten points a game, but could look to score more often in big games. They also have a big guy down, Adrian Price, who does everything you want from a big man. This team has looked very good up to this point, it is just about playing to their full potential. They have a decent challenge coming up this week when they play Arapahoe.
7. Fairview
Fairview is having a great season going undefeated so far in league play. Fairview is one the more complete teams in the state having a starting five who all contribute and play well together. Leading the charge for Fairview is Greysen Carter, putting up 18.3 points and 7.9 rebounds per game. Then they have the big man, Jalen Page, down low who puts up good numbers but also does things off of the stat sheet, like playing good defense and getting his teammates involved. This team has some good challenges coming up when they play Broomfield and Rocky Mountain.
6. Smoky Hill
This Smoky Hill team is coming off of two rough losses to Grandview and Cherry Creek. In these games the loss seemed to be related to Jalen Weaver‘s production, the last two games he did not play well and they lost the games. For them to win games they need someone else to step up on his off nights but I expect he will step up back to his usual production soon. Point guard Quentin Rock has been playing very well averaging 19.6 points and 5.1 assist per game. This team is looking for a third option to step up and recently it has looked like it could be, DeAngelo Horn, who is an athlete who is great at crashing the offensive boards and getting easy put-backs. This week they have a good challenge when they play an Overland team who beat them earlier in the season.
