McClintock pulled off a nice upset over #8 Cactus Shadows in the first round, winning by 1 point. While everybody loves upsets, myself included, I do not think that will be the case here. Millennium is just too deep and dominant this season.
Prediction: Millennium wins by 20
4 Buena vs 5 South Mountain
This could be a very exciting game. Being from Tucson myself, I can tell you how widely regarded Buena is for playing hard every single game. If you’re familiar with South Mountain, you know they play just as hard as anyone in the state as well. This game could be an absolute battle and I am really excited for it. This game may have a little bit more meaning to it than people may think. These teams matched up last year in the play-in round. South Mountain beat Buena on the road. I think they will do it again.
Prediction: South Mountain wins by 6
3 Gilbert vs 6 Sunnyslope
This should be another really exciting game between two heavyweights of the 5A Conference. Both teams have size, are well coached, and super talented top to bottom. I think it will be a close game and I am going to go with the team that I think is a little bit more experienced.
Prediction: Gilbert wins by 11
2 Ironwood vs 10 Nogales
Nogales pulled off a nice upset against the #7 team Cienega on the road. Now they face an absolute beast of a team, the Ironwood Eagles. Nogales is a team that typically plays with a lot of speed and shoots a ton of 3’s, while playing tough defense. I think this plays into the hands of Ironwood and I believe the Eagles will beat them at their own game.
Prediction: Ironwood wins by 17
