I picked out 5 examples of that type of player. They have dedicated themselves to the game and to their teams.
Isaiah Jackson Isaiah Jackson 6'9" | PF Waterford Mott | 2020 State #27 Nation MI (PF, Warren Mott)
Jackson is a Kentucky commit and a highly regarded prospect nationally. He left the state for a year to star at Spire Academy. But this year, Jackson found his way back home. He was driven by a desire to finish what he started here in Michigan. For that, Jackson deserves the ultimate success.
Scooby Johnson (SF, Benton Harbor)
Johnson won a state title as a freshman, but undoubtedly deserves another. He’s turned himself into a legend in the Benton Harbor community. Behind the scenes, the Butler commit grinds as hard, or harder, than anyone. Through all this, he remains a humble team player. It’s easy to want a young man of his character to win.
Kyle Legreair Kyle Legreair 6'0" | CG Cass Tech | 2020 State MI (CG, Cass Tech)
Legreair was forever underrated as a prospect. Any scout that has really watched him play, knew better. Legreair never complained though, he just worked and continued to improve. He’s now recognized as half of one of the best backcourts in Michigan. Underrated players everywhere want to see him win the state title.
Matt Nicholson Matt Nicholson 7'0" | C Clarkston | 2020 State #221 Nation MI (C, Clarkston)
Nicholson is a model for the saying “stick to it”. It wasn’t long ago that he was on the bench for a loaded Clarkston team, picking up scrap minutes in blowouts. Nicholson is now a star and one of the top 2 post prospects in Michigan. He’s having a Mr. Basketball worthy season. Players with potential that are fighting for minutes are cheering for this young man and his success story.
Jarvis Walker Jarvis Walker 6'2" | PG Muskegon | 2020 State #416 Nation MI (PG, Muskegon)
Walker has been ranked near the top of the prospect list since he hit high school. He started at Muskegon Mona Shores, but transferred to Muskegon last year. Walker has always dealt with his stardom with class and grace. Many want to see him finish his story with a state title.
