Jackson Spencer knocks down 11 3-pointers
The Apex Friendship Patriots opened the SWAC Tournament with 88-60 victory over the South Garner Titans. The Patriots got a big game from Jackson Spencer who made 11 3-pointers in the win. He made five in the first half and six in the second as the Patriots cruised to victory in his career night. He’s a confident sharpshooter that can really fill it up.
3rd quarter run dooms the South Garner Titans
The Titans kept things close in the first half, but third-quarter woes doomed them once again as they were outscored 33-20 at the hands of six 3-pointers from senior guard Jackson Spencer. Spencer finished the game with a career-high 35 points in the victory for Apex Friendship.
Nick Farrar shows off his paint presence
Not to be outdone by Jackson Spencer’s performance, NC State commit Nick Farrar put up 21 points for the Patriots in the victory. He held his own in the paint on both ends and did well to look to open things up for Spencer with his other teammates as well. He had 10 of his 21 points in the first quarter. In the end, he did enough to get a convincing victory to open the SWAC Tournament.
Jayden Beloti finishes in double figures
Unsigned senior guard Jayden Beloti was another Apex Friendship played that put together a solid game for them. He finished with 12 points with a number of drives to the rim, showing off his ability to finish in the paint. As the playoffs approach, he’ll need to show off his ability to be just as effective on the defensive end as they look to make a run at a state title.
Titans showed flashes
The South Garner Titans showed flashes of their potential and they trailed by just 12 points at halftime. They got seven first-half points from Brandon Huffstetler and Leo Antxane finished with 11 points in the game. In the end, they fell short but they battled throughout the game. They’ll be back next season looking to improve from the experience.
